From 2026 , These are luxury Presidential Style Suite available on Australia’s three iconic rail journeys: The Ghan, Indian Pacific, and Great Southern Rail.

Journey Beyond Rail proudly introduces its newest pinnacle of luxury rail travel — the Aurora Suite and Australis Suite, redefining a new high-end benchmark for Australian train journeys.

Derived from Latin, Australis and Aurora refer to the “Southern Lights,” symbolising the most prestigious and iconic luxury experience of the Southern Hemisphere.

This is not an ordinary train cabin, but a private suite experience purpose-built for long-distance luxury rail travel. The design is rich and layered, with meticulous detailing that blends bespoke craftsmanship, timber accents, natural stone elements, intricate iron filigree, and coved ceilings inspired by traditional cornices — a seamless fusion of contemporary architectural elegance and classic railway heritage.

From April 2026, the Aurora Australis Suites will debut across Journey Beyond Rail’s three iconic rail journeys — The Ghan, Indian Pacific, and Great Southern — unveiling a bold new chapter of luxury in Australian rail travel. Once introduced to these legendary trains, they will become the ultimate way to explore, taste, and experience Australia.


Aurora Australis: A New Era of Luxury Rail Suites

Both the Australis Suite and Aurora Suite offer expansive space with a separate bedroom featuring a custom-sized bed. The Australis Suite is three times the size of a Platinum cabin, while the Aurora Suite offers double the space.

These suites are your private sanctuary after a day exploring the vast landscapes of Outback Australia. Unpack, rest your feet, and raise a glass of chilled vintage Champagne or fine wine as you savour the journey.

A dedicated butler leads the way in refined Australian hospitality, delivering personalised and attentive service. In-suite privileges include exclusive unpacking service, a curated pillow menu, a private bar tailored to your preferences, and in-room dining.

When venturing off the train, you will be immersed in exclusive and intimate experiences that connect you deeply to each destination. Upon returning to the train, you will be welcomed with a chilled flute of Champagne Bollinger La Grande Année, the perfect conclusion to your day.

AUSTRALIS SUITE

The Australis Suite is the most luxurious suite in Australian train travel. At three times the size of a Platinum cabin it features a separate bedroom with a fixed custom-sized bed, full lounge set, personal bar and en suite with double vanity and premium Jurlique amenities. This Suite also has a writing desk as well as a wardrobe and ample room to stretch your legs or host friends and family in-suite. Additional features include:

  • Complimentary hotel transfers are provided between your inner-city hotel and the departure and arrival stations.

Things to Note

Price & Validity

  • All prices are quoted in Australian Dollars (AUD).
  • During peak seasons, weekends, and school holidays, availability is limited.
  • If the train or cabin type is fully booked, FIT TRAVEL reserves the right to offer an upgrade or alternative arrangement based on actual availability. Prices may be adjusted according to season and cabin type prior to ticket issuance; no changes are permitted after tickets are issued.

Booking Confirmation

  • Your booking is confirmed, and a contract is formed once:
  • You have completed your booking and provided all required information.
  • Full payment or the required deposit has been received.
  • A confirmation letter has been issued by us.
    Upon confirmation, service arrangements for your journey will commence immediately.

Cancellation & Refunds

  • If your journey is cancelled due to force majeure or government policy (e.g., route suspension or funding withdrawal), you may choose between a full refund, a rescheduled date, or an equivalent alternative trip.
    FIT TRAVEL is not responsible for any additional costs not included in the package, such as flights, visas, or insurance.

Itinerary Changes

  • Due to operational or external circumstances, train schedules and off-train experiences may be subject to change.
    If such changes significantly affect your journey, you may choose to accept a partial refund based on the value reduction or cancel the journey for a full refund.

Travel Insurance

  • Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended at the time of deposit payment to cover unforeseen events such as cancellation, medical expenses, baggage loss, or other emergencies.

Health & Fitness Requirements

  • Some journeys require completion of a Travel Fitness Form.
    Failure to complete the form within the specified timeframe may result in cancellation without refund.

Dietary & Special Requirements

  • Any dietary preferences or special requests must be advised within 7 days of receiving your booking confirmation.

🕒 Check-in Information

  • Great Southern / The Ghan / Indian Pacific: Check-in opens 2.5 hours before departure and closes 1 hour prior.
  • Overland: Check-in opens 1 hour before departure and closes 30 minutes prior.
    Valid photo identification or passport is required at check-in.

Smoking Policy

  • All trains and stations are strictly non-smoking, including electronic cigarettes, in accordance with government regulations.

Unused Services

  • No refunds will be issued for any unused portions of the journey, whether due to late arrival, early departure, or personal choice, unless caused by FIT TRAVEL’s negligence.

Photography & Media Use

  • Photos or videos may be taken during the journey for promotional purposes.
    If you do not wish your image to be used, please notify us at least 21 days before departure.

Pre-departure Notes

Dress Code

  • Wear comfortable casual clothing and walking shoes.
    As inland Australia experiences significant temperature variation, please bring both warm and sun-protective clothing and essentials such as:
    jackets, long sleeves, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a water bottle.

Onboard Spending

  • All meals and off-train experiences are included (except optional paid upgrades).
    Credit cards or cash may be used for upgraded experiences or souvenir purchases along the route.

Luggage Policy

  • Gold Service: 2 checked bags per person (up to 30 kg each)
  • Platinum Service: 3 checked bags per person (up to 30 kg each)
    Checked baggage must be submitted at least 1 hour before departure and cannot be accessed during the journey.
    Passengers may also bring one small carry-on bag onboard.

Power Outlets

  • Australian standard power outlets are available onboard for charging personal devices.

Cancellation Policy

30% surcharge if change or cancel after order is placed. No refund if cancel within 45days.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
With this specific product's cancellation policy, the suppliers reserve the right of final interpretation.
If your order only pays the deposit of a product: a, if the product has available seats on the departure date and price and contents are the same as the order you placed, the booking would be confirmed by us without additional notification to you, and the deposit is not refundable. b, if the product has no available seats or price or contents are not the same, we might provide alternative options. If you do not agree with the options, the deposit is refundable.
