The Hunter Valley Resort Story

The Hunter Valley Resort is located in the heart of Hunter Valley Wine Country, set across 70 secluded acres and approximately a 2-hour drive north of Sydney. The resort delivers a complete Wine Country experience, offering a unique combination of accommodation, dining, entertainment, and local produce.

It is one of the few family-owned lodges in Australia operated and marketed as a single, integrated property. Guests can enjoy exceptional dining and fresh brews at 4 Pines at the Farm Taproom & Bistro, explore Hunter Farm and the Adventure Centre, stay in comfortable 4-star guest rooms and cottages (currently rated as the best 4-star hotel in the Hunter Valley on TripAdvisor), and sample the resort’s own wines at the Wine Tasting Cellars, where visitors can also learn about the wine- and beer-making process. All of this is set within the resort’s 55-year-old vineyards.

Hunter Valley balloon flights depart at sunrise, offering breathtaking views over the renowned wine regions of Pokolbin, Lovedale, Rothbury, or Broke. Each flight lasts approximately one hour and is followed by a gourmet breakfast and champagne celebration at the iconic Peterson House Winery and Restaurant.

Daily sunrise balloon flights are available for individuals, corporate groups, or intimate VIP experiences. As hot air ballooning is an adventure activity, timelines may vary. The full experience, including the post-flight breakfast, generally takes approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours.

Accommodation:

Hunter Rooms:  Our Hunter rooms all have timber cathedral ceilings, a full-size bathtub, and covered balcony outlooks over our tennis court and the surrounding Wine Country. They all have a queen-size bed and 2 single trundle beds, perfect for families.

King Rooms: Our King rooms all feature timber cathedral ceilings, a full-size bath, and the covered balcony overlooks the surrounding Hunter Valley Wine Country with views to the Brokenback Ranges. These rooms have a choice of a king bed, or, on request before arrival, can be split into two single beds.

Spa Cottage Rooms: Located in their own cottages, these rooms have a king-size bed, spa bath, and separate shower, with more space and privacy for that special time away.

Two Bedroom Cottage: The cottage offers more space and privacy for two couples, or a family group. Sleeping a maximum of 6 people. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed with an ensuite bathroom with a shower/bath. Bedroom 2 has a king bed (On request prior to arrival, this can be split into 2 x singles) and also has an ensuite bathroom with shower/bath. The living room has a double sofa bed.

Electric Bike Hire – Hunter Valley
Explore the Hunter Valley by electric, motor-assisted bike and discover just how effortless and enjoyable the experience can be. Riders may pedal as much or as little as they choose, making even hills easy to navigate. This activity is suitable for corporate events, families, and large groups, offering a fun and relaxed way to visit wineries while enjoying the fresh air.

Pizza Making Classes
A fantastic team-building experience that begins with the finest ingredients, including premium flour, garden-fresh tomatoes, and high-quality local produce. Sauces are prepared from scratch using traditional Italian methods.

Hands-On Cooking Classes
An immersive experience at the Hunter Valley Cooking School’s purpose-built kitchen and library. These hands-on classes involve preparing all dishes from scratch using local organic produce. Recipes are provided, and the dishes prepared are enjoyed as either lunch or dinner, typically consisting of a three-course meal.

Hunter Valley Candy-Making Class
Ideal for those with a sweet tooth, this fun and interactive workshop allows participants to create “Big Kids” candy. The standard session runs for 60 minutes, with shorter options available from just 20 minutes.
