Don’t Miss the Park’s Star Animal: Capybara!

The capybara is the world’s largest rodent and a close relative of the guinea pig. Native to South America, these adorable creatures are commonly found near rivers, lakes, and swamps.

Capybara Characteristics:

  • Adult capybaras can grow up to 1.2 meters long and weigh around 35-65 kg.
  • Excellent swimmers, they often soak in water to cool down.
  • They are friendly and coexist peacefully with birds, monkeys, turtles, and other animals.
  • Usually live in small groups of 5-20 individuals.
  • Mainly feed on grass, aquatic plants, and fruits.

Ferry

  • Taronga Zoo is 12 minutes from Circular Quay by ferry. Sydney ferry services depart Circular Quay every 30 minutes
  • Captain Cook Cruises operate the Zoo Express and the all-day hop-on, hop-off services, which depart daily from Circular Quay
  • Fantasea Cruising operates a zoo direct all-day hop-on and hop-off Harbour Hopper from Darling Harbour (Aquarium Wharf) and Circular Quay Wharf 6. You can select the zoo ticket + ferry Combo for this
  • You can enter the zoo through the iconic heritage gates at the main entrance at the top of the zoo, or the lower zoo entrance, which is a 3-minute walk from the Taronga Zoo ferry wharf. Buses also connect the ferry wharf and lower zoo entrance with the top entrance.

Bus

  • The 100 Bus (Mosman to City) operates between Mosman (Taronga Zoo, Sydney) and the Queen Victoria Building in the city from early morning until around midnight, seven days a week. Buses will run every 10 minutes across the day and at least every 20 minutes in the early morning and late at night.
  • The 238 bus route travels between Balmoral Beach, the Taronga Zoo Sydney main entrance and the Taronga ferry wharf on the water's edge for passengers arriving or leaving by ferry
  • Bus and coach parking may be arranged by calling (02) 9969 2777

Train

Passengers can change at Circular Quay train station and join the ferry to Taronga Zoo Sydney

Driving

Parking is available at Taronga Zoo Sydney, with entry from Bradley's Head Road. The all-day parking rate is $22. For guests entering prior to 4.00pm, the parking is a flat rate of $22 for the whole day, or free if entering and exiting within 90 minutes.

Please note: there is no 90-minute grace period after 4.00pm.

Bus & coach parking

Please note limited coach parking is available at Taronga Zoo Sydney.

There are seven bus bays near the security portal that have been reserved to accommodate the increasing numbers of private buses & coaches that require parking. Entry is via Whiting Beach Road.

Bus & coach drivers are encouraged to safely set down passengers at the dedicated bus bays along Bradley's Head Road before parking their vehicle at the seven bus bays near the security portal. All bus bays are available on a first in, first served basis.

  • All per-person prices quoted are in Australian dollars
  • Once a booking is confirmed, requests for alterations or cancellation will not be granted
  • The guided tour prices include entry to the zoo

Cancellation Policy

15% surcharge if change or cancel after order is placed. No refund if cancel within 2days.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

    I had a ton of fun at this zoo, there were a wide variety of animals and the performances were very educational, especially the bird one. I loved the capybaras the most, I hadn’t seen them before and I thought they were very interesting and cute. I highly recommend going to this zoo. It’s also close to a lot of places, so it made it easier to experience Sydney more.
