Enjoy the best of Tasmania’s nature, wildlife, and history over seven super days. Join our eco-certified, small group tour of Tasmania to explore the wild West Coast, Cradle Mountain, the East Coast’s Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay, Port Arthur Historic Site and Crescent Bay on the Tasman Peninsula, and Hobart’s Wellington Park. You’ll experience the highlights of the island and be guided on several of Tasmania’s Great Short Walks.

Departing Hobart, your adventure through Lutruwita/Tasmania begins at Mount Field National Park, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Stroll among towering eucalyptus trees and admire the cascading beauty of Russell Falls. Travel through the Western Wilds, taking in the breathtaking landscapes of Lake St Clair—Australia’s deepest freshwater lake—and the rugged Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Along the way, explore Tasmania’s rich mining history in Queenstown before reaching the harbourside village of Strahan, where accommodation is provided for the next two nights.

Choose your own West Coast experience. For an active adventure, join a guided walk through lush temperate rainforest and across the vast, windswept Henty Sand Dunes. For a more relaxed option, take the optional Gordon River Cruise (additional cost) through Macquarie Harbour, visiting historic Sarah Island and wandering among ancient Huon pines in the World Heritage-listed wilderness. Later, visit Ocean Beach—Tasmania’s longest stretch of sand—and breathe in some of the cleanest air on earth.

Cradle Mountain National Park is one of Tasmania’s most iconic destinations, within the UNESCO World Heritage Area. Explore its alpine landscapes and glacial-carved wilderness, keeping an eye out for wombats, echidnas, and other native wildlife. Choose from a variety of walks, including the challenging climb to Marion’s Lookout, the scenic six-kilometre Dove Lake Circuit, or a leisurely stroll to the historic Boatshed. Continue north to Launceston, stopping in Sheffield, the “Town of Murals,” renowned for its striking street art.

In Launceston, wander through the scenic Cataract Gorge along the South Esk River, a natural haven ideal for spotting wallabies. Travel to Tasmania’s East Coast, pausing for lunch in the fishing town of St Helens before continuing to Larapuna/Bay of Fires. Learn about the deep cultural connection the Palawa people have with this land while walking along pristine white sands, where turquoise waters contrast with vibrant orange boulders. Continue south to the coastal town of Bicheno, home to the little penguin.

Freycinet National Park on Tasmania’s East Coast features extraordinary beaches, coastal forests, and striking pink granite mountains. Hiking options range from the iconic Wineglass Bay Lookout to a rewarding trek down to the beach. For a more challenging climb, ascend Mt Amos for panoramic views, or enjoy a leisurely coastal walk to Honeymoon Bay. The day concludes at Cape Tourville Lighthouse, offering sweeping views of the Tasman Sea, followed by a scenic drive along the Great Eastern Drive back to Nipaluna/Hobart.

At Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, encounter Tasmanian devils, quolls, wombats, and kangaroos. Explore the colonial heritage village of Richmond before travelling through the Coal River Valley wine region to Hobart’s Wellington Park. Kunanyi/Mount Wellington features fern glades, towering eucalyptus forests, dramatic rock formations, and scenic walking trails leading to stunning lookouts. Insights into the local landscape are provided along the way, with the opportunity to unwind in Hobart’s historic pubs or restaurants.

Discover the rugged coastline and convict history of the Tasman Peninsula. At Port Arthur Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed cultural attraction, explore preserved ruins and expansive grounds to learn about Tasmania’s convict past. Visit Remarkable Cave for a short walk among the coastal sand dunes of Crescent Bay, and at Tasman Arch in Tasman National Park, witness the power of the Southern Ocean against Australia’s highest sea cliffs. The journey concludes with a return to Hobart, completing your Tasmanian adventure.
