Discover the fascinating convict history at Port Arthur Historic Site, deemed an inescapable prison. Explore the spectacular scenery of the Tasman National Park along the Waterfall Bay clifftop walk, experience a Tasmanian Devil feeding and visit Richmond's historic village.

During this busy and fast-paced active day tour we combine two of Tasmania's iconic experiences - a Tassie Devil feeding and time to explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site. You'll also visit Richmond historic village and walk the stunning Waterfall Bay cliff top track.

The tour begins with an early departure from Hobart, heading straight to the dramatic Tasman Peninsula—an area renowned for its rich history, incredible stories, and awe-inspiring coastal scenery. Along the way, stop at Pirates Bay Lookout for panoramic views over the peninsula, offering the perfect introduction to this wild and beautiful region.

As the journey continues through Eaglehawk Neck and “The Dog Line,” your Tour Guide will share captivating tales of the region’s convict past.

Next, enjoy one of Tasmania’s Great Short Walks—the Waterfall Bay Clifftop Walk. This scenic track follows an easy, undulating path along the cliff edge and takes around 45 minutes to complete. The walk ends at the impressive rock formations of Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen.

From there, travel to the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo just in time for the thrilling devil feeding presentation. Witness these iconic animals in action—growling, snapping, and crushing bones in a dramatic display of natural behaviour. There's also time to hand-feed friendly wallabies and stroll through native bushland in the relaxed and immersive Unzoo environment.

The next stop is the Port Arthur Historic Site, one of Australia’s most important and fascinating heritage destinations. Your entry includes a 20-minute harbour cruise around the Isle of the Dead, access to The Port Arthur Experience podcast, and site talks throughout the day led by expert guides. With approximately 2.5 hours here, there's time to explore the extensive grounds—visit the main penitentiary, solitary cells, and dozens of preserved buildings that paint a vivid picture of life in this former penal colony.

On the return journey to Hobart, enjoy a late-afternoon stop in the charming historic township of Richmond. Take time to wander the quaint streets, grab a coffee, visit the lolly shop or chocolatier, and walk across Australia’s oldest convict-built bridge, still in use today and rumoured to be haunted.

The tour concludes with arrival back in Hobart at approximately 6:00 pm.
