• You will depart Hobart around 7-7:30 am. The tour lasts for 11 hours until 6 pm. The tour usually operates on Weekdays, but from the 1st of Dec to the 31st of Jan, it also operates on Saturdays.

The day begins with an early departure from Hobart, heading straight to the stunning Tasman Peninsula — an area rich in history, dramatic landscapes, and fascinating convict tales. This region is home to Australia’s highest sea cliffs and offers spectacular views from Pirates Bay Lookout, where sweeping vistas reveal the rugged coastline, impressive geological formations, and the challenges once faced by escaping convicts.

Passing through Eaglehawk Neck and the historic Dog Line, the journey continues with insights into the area's layered past. A walk along the Waterfall Bay cliff-top track follows — one of Tasmania’s acclaimed Great Short Walks. This 2 km return walk takes approximately 45–60 minutes, rated as easy but with some gentle undulations. The trail ends at the dramatic rock formations of Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen, offering a memorable encounter with the Peninsula’s natural beauty.

Next, the tour arrives at the Port Arthur Historic Site, where around four hours are available to explore this UNESCO World Heritage-listed open-air museum. Site entry includes a complimentary harbour cruise around the Isle of the Dead, access to The Port Arthur Experience podcast, and guided site talks delivered by expert interpreters throughout the day. Visitors can immerse themselves in the sobering history of Australia’s penal past, from the imposing main penitentiary and solitary confinement cells to the ruins and restored buildings that tell the story of this once “inescapable prison.”

On the return journey to Hobart, a stop is made in the charming historic town of Richmond. There’s time to stroll through the quaint streets, enjoy a coffee, visit the old-fashioned Lolly Shop and Chocolatier, and cross Australia’s oldest bridge still in use — a convict-built sandstone structure steeped in legend and said to be haunted.

The tour concludes with an evening arrival back in Hobart at approximately 6:00 pm.
