Experience the rich history, diverse plant life, and fascinating geology of kunanyi / Mount Wellington on this relaxed, scenic afternoon tour. With no hiking required, this experience offers multiple stops at key locations on the mountain, including the summit.

Led by local Tasmanian guide David, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the mountain through engaging commentary and stories that reveal its natural and cultural significance — far beyond what shorter express tours offer.

Tour Itinerary:

2:00 PM – Meet at the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre, 20 Davey Street, Hobart.
Begin with a guided drive through historic Hobart, passing the Cascade Gardens and the Cascade Brewery, which dates back to 1824. Enjoy views of Mount Wellington as you make your way towards the foothills.
Take a short stroll past the historic Cascades Female Factory and along the tranquil Hobart Rivulet, a known habitat for platypuses.

Continue through lush eucalypt forests to the village of Fern Tree, where you'll stop at The Springs. Here, you can enjoy refreshments at the Lost Freight Café and learn about the dramatic past of the former Springs Hotel.

From there, ascend to The Chalet, where you’ll see snow gums, flowering banksias, waterfalls, and spectacular views over Hobart and the Derwent River.

The final leg takes you above the tree line to the summit of kunanyi / Mount Wellington. At the top, you'll have free time to explore the unique alpine vegetation and fascinating rock formations, and enjoy panoramic views across southern Tasmania and the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, weather permitting.

Tour ends with a return to the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre by 6:00 PM — just in time to enjoy dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants in the Hobart CBD.
