Itinerary

8:00 AM – Depart Hobart
Meet at the Pennicott Wilderness Journeys Booking Centre, Dock Head Building, Franklin Wharf, Hobart. Travel by coach to Triabunna on Tasmania’s east coast.

9:30 AM – Check-in at Triabunna
Arrive at the Maria Island Cruises Booking Centre and prepare for your wilderness cruise.

10:00 AM – Maria Island Wilderness Cruise
Depart Triabunna and cruise along the spectacular coastline of Maria Island. Discover dramatic sea cliffs, caves, secluded bays and remarkable geological formations while your experienced guides share stories about the island’s wildlife, history and natural environment.

The cruise also explores Ile des Phoques (Island of Seals) and other highlights along the Maria Island coastline, subject to weather and sea conditions.

Morning Tea & Lunch
Enjoy morning tea during the experience, followed by lunch as part of your full-day tour.

Approx. 1:15 PM – Maria Island Cruise & Walk
Arrive at Maria Island and spend approximately two hours ashore. Join a guided walk through the historic Darlington convict settlement, then enjoy some free time to explore the island.

Keep an eye out for Maria Island’s abundant wildlife, including wombats, wallabies, kangaroos and native birdlife.

Approx. 3:15 PM – Depart Maria Island

Approx. 3:45 PM – Arrive Triabunna
Return to the mainland and board your transfer back to Hobart.

Approx. 5:30 PM – Return to Hobart
Arrive back in Hobart, with Hobart CBD hotel drop-off included.

  • Preparing for Your Cruise
  • Please dress warmly for the cruise—layering is key. We recommend wearing warm jackets, scarves, beanies, and gloves. While the yellow boat is enclosed for your comfort and protection from the elements, extra layers will ensure you stay cosy throughout the journey.
    Don't forget your camera—you’ll want to capture the breathtaking scenery and wildlife encounters!
  • Tours operate daily, excluding the 25th of December. Bookings are essential, as places are limited and subject to availability.
  • Children of all ages are welcome. Parents know best whether their children will enjoy the 3-hour cruise; however, most children love the experience, especially spotting wildlife and taking in the dramatic Bruny coastline.
  • The cruise is generally suitable for pregnant guests. Our custom-built vessels are designed for smooth cruising, though comfort can vary depending on sea conditions. We recommend checking the weather forecast a day or two before your cruise. If needed, we’re happy to reschedule or cancel your booking.
  • Wildlife Spotting : This is a nature-based sightseeing experience, Wombat and while seals and seabirds are frequently seen (with approximately a 50% chance), sightings of whales, dolphins, and albatrosses are dependent on seasonal patterns and weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

Cancellation Policy

Free Cancellation if cancel outside 3days. No refund if cancel within 3days.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
With this specific product's cancellation policy, the suppliers reserve the right of final interpretation.
If your order only pays the deposit of a product: a, if the product has available seats on the departure date and price and contents are the same as the order you placed, the booking would be confirmed by us without additional notification to you, and the deposit is not refundable. b, if the product has no available seats or price or contents are not the same, we might provide alternative options. If you do not agree with the options, the deposit is refundable.
