Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters is a unique, next-generation interactive aquarium that offers a one-of-a-kind Australian marine experience. Now featuring two enormous 1-million-litre lagoons, including the newly completed Tropical Lagoon building with an incredible retractable roof, the facility redefines hands-on marine encounters.

Previously located at Bobs Farm, Irukandji is a passionate, family-run business now operating at 2 Jessie Road, Anna Bay, right on the roundabout at Nelson Bay Road and Port Stephens Drive – a convenient and accessible location.

Unlike traditional aquariums where marine life is viewed through glass, Irukandji offers real, in-water experiences where guests can interact directly with sharks and rays, overcoming fears and gaining a deeper understanding of these often-misunderstood ocean predators. It's a fully immersive educational journey focused on marine conservation and awareness.

Irukandji Entry Pass in Bare Feet into the Lagoon Shallows
The Entry Pass at Irukandji is unique. Instead of viewing through glass, guests are invited to meet the wildlife, pet them, feed them at the lagoons edge or even step into the shallow water of the lagoons in bare feet, being surrounded by many curious & friendly sharks & rays.
Wearing regular clothes visitors stay mostly dry, only wetting their feet. When stepping into the water with the animals, guests are treated with excitement, fun, fear & incredible Aussie shark memories for all ages.

A truly immersive experience with rare access to the big shark section of the Tropical Lagoon with a private guide. All snorkelers must be able to swim. Swimming amongst the mesmerizing rays, our lovable Port Jackson sharks & our brand-new addition; Patrisha the green sea turtle, all in their outdoor, natural ocean style habitat. Submerse yourself in their wonderful underwater world, as they glide under & around you. Limited to 12yrs+ confident swimmers due to depth & water currents. This is the ultimate adventure with Irukandji’s tawny nurse sharks & playful whitetip reef sharks. Rare opportunity for adults and teens to enter the lagoon with 3m sharks at feeding time. Pet & personally feed the reef sharks with a feeding pole. Choose to stand waist deep or option to watch underwater with a snorkel! Limited 4 sessions per day, with a maximum of 6 visitors
per encounter. Book ahead!

The stingrays steal the show with their animated & overly affectionate personalities. The Little Ray Cuddle is a special encounter with a private guide and a maximum of 6 guests per session.
Guests are treated to a private talk while seated in the shallows feeding the rays and a photo of them on their own device. Our bubbly rays swim all around you and onto your laps! Suitable for all ages* a great family encounter. Only 3 sessions per day
