The five-day tour of Tasmania starts by heading to the wild West Coast for waterfalls, rainforests, and wildlife. You’ll discover the startling changes of scenery in the alpine wilderness of Cradle Mountain, and the pristine sands of Tasmania’s East Coast, at the Bay of Fires, Wineglass Bay, and Freycinet National Park. Itinerary

Day 1: Hobart to Strahan

The small group tour of Lutruwita/Tasmania begins with an exploration of the wild West Coast, featuring a series of short scenic walks. The journey takes in three breathtaking national parks, starting with Mount Field, home to the majestic Russell Falls and the world’s tallest flowering trees. Continue to the shores of Lake St Clair—Australia’s deepest freshwater lake—nestled within Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park. As you travel further west, dramatic landscapes unfold, with rugged mountains, vast buttongrass plains, and lush rainforests in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. A stop in Queenstown offers insight into Tasmania’s pioneering history before arriving in the harbourside village of Strahan.

Day 2: Wild West Coast

Choose between two unforgettable experiences. For an active adventure, join a guided walk through temperate rainforest and the towering Henty Sand Dunes. For a more relaxed option, embark on the Gordon River Cruise (own cost), exploring Macquarie Harbour, historic Sarah Island, and the World Heritage rainforest, where you can stroll among ancient Huon pines. Later, visit windswept Ocean Beach, Tasmania’s longest stretch of sand, and breathe in some of the world’s freshest air.

Day 3: Cradle Mountain to Launceston

Cradle Mountain National Park is a world-class hiking destination within the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The alpine landscape is alive with wildlife, and at Ronny Creek you may spot wombats along the boardwalk. Several walking options are available, from the challenging climb to Marion’s Lookout for sweeping views, to the scenic six-kilometre circuit around glacial Dove Lake. Continue on to Sheffield, the “Town of Murals,” before arriving in Launceston.

Day 4: Launceston to Bicheno

Explore Cataract Gorge, a striking nature reserve just minutes from central Launceston. Take a short walk while keeping an eye out for wallabies, then travel east to the fishing town of St Helens. Here you can enjoy lunch before continuing to Larapuna/Bay of Fires, where dazzling white sands, turquoise waters, and orange-hued granite boulders await. Learn about the deep cultural significance of this coastline to the Palawa/Tasmanian Aboriginal people while taking in the spectacular scenery. The day concludes in the relaxed seaside town of Bicheno, home to the little penguin.

Day 5: Freycinet National Park to Hobart

Discover the jewel of Tasmania’s East Coast—Freycinet National Park. Hike the 1,000 steps to Wineglass Bay Lookout, or continue down to the pristine beach itself. For a more demanding challenge, climb to the summit of Mount Amos for panoramic views across the Freycinet Peninsula. Alternatively, relax at Honeymoon Bay and take in the pink granite peaks of the Hazards Mountains. Finally, enjoy sweeping vistas of the Tasman Sea from Cape Tourville Lighthouse before following the Great Eastern Drive back to Nipaluna/Hobart, where your Tasmanian journey concludes.
