Embark on the ultimate 3-day, 2-night Kangaroo Island adventure with Untamed Escapes, departing from Adelaide. Known as "nature's playground," Kangaroo Island is Australia's third-largest island, famed for its abundant wildlife, diverse landscapes, pristine white sandy beaches, and friendly locals. This tour promises unforgettable moments in nature, from exploring iconic sites and participating in conservation work to magical hikes, snorkeling in turquoise waters, and stargazing under the southern skies.

Itinerary

Day 1: Adelaide to Kangaroo Island

Begin with an early 6:45 AM SeaLink bus transfer from Adelaide CBD to Cape Jervis ferry terminal. Enjoy a 45-minute ferry cruise to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island, where your Untamed Escapes Guide will greet you. Explore Pennington Bay, famed for its surf breaks, and climb the 500 steps of Prospect Hill for rewarding island views. Visit Clifford’s Honey to learn about Ligurian Bees and enjoy a tasting. Relax at family-owned Dudley Wines with ocean views. Arrive at "Happiness" eco-campsite in Antechamber Bay, offering private beach access. Tonight, experience swag camping under the stars.

Day 2: Kangaroo Island

After breakfast, participate in a volunteer conservation effort at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, a 2,000-hectare haven for native wildlife, focusing on recovery and regeneration after the 2020 bushfires. Activities may include seed collecting, tree planting, or wildlife counting. Next, head to the iconic Flinders Chase National Park to see Admirals Arch, home to New Zealand fur seals, and the ancient Remarkable Rocks, shaped over 500 million years. Enjoy a bush walk at Weirs Cove followed by a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a 45-minute tour with National Parks & Wildlife guides at Seal Bay, home to the third-largest colony of endangered Australian sea lions, learning about conservation efforts. Return to camp for dinner and stargazing.

Day 3: Kangaroo Island to Adelaide

Start your final day with a morning hike, then enjoy free time in Kingscote for coffee. Explore the island’s stunning north coast, weaving through a labyrinth of caves to reach Stokes Bay, voted best beach in Australia in 2023. Enjoy a picnic lunch and, if weather permits, snorkel among rock pools. Participate in citizen science conservation efforts with Passport to Recovery. This afternoon, return to "Happiness" to pack before heading to Penneshaw for your 7:30 PM ferry back to the mainland. Enjoy one last dinner (at your own expense) before farewelling your guide. The SeaLink bus connection will have you back in Adelaide by 11:00 PM.

  • Pick up from the hotels in Port Lincoln, please provide you hotel when you make a reservation, our friendly staff will arrange the nearest pick up location for you.

Things to Note

  • All per person prices quoted are in Australian dollars
  • Camping tour not suitable young child , especially age under 3yrs old
  • To get the most from our Kangaroo Island adventure tours, you need to enjoy the outdoors and hiking and be able to cope with extreme weather conditions.
  • A moderate fitness level is required, and you need to be prepared for walks between 2-5 kilometres on some days. This may involve rough ground and perhaps getting wet.
  • Please advise of any special dietary requirements when you book. We offer plenty of variety and do our best to provide fresh products. Snacks, soft drinks and alcohol are not included.
  • Bags are restricted to 1 × 15 kg backpack/soft travel bag per person, plus one small piece of hand luggage.
  • This tour requires a minimum of six people to operate. In the unlikely event your departure is cancelled because minimum numbers have not been met, we will transfer all monies paid onto a future departure date. If this is not suitable, we will refund your tour price in full.

ACCOMMODATION & CAMPING

  • Camping is at a private bushland property called “Happiness” at Antechamber Bay.
  • The property also has a camp kitchen, bathroom and lounge facilities. It is also only a 10-minute wander down a bush track to a magical beach.
  • In wet weather, we can put the swags in a sheltered area on the verandah and have access to indoor facilities to use.
  • When camping, we use single swags. Swags are ‘Aussie Bed Rolls’ made from sturdy canvas with a mattress built into the swag. Passengers must provide a sleeping bag and pillow to insert into the swag.
  • This is a camping tour, and involvement from the passengers is required. This can include helping with meals and packing up camp.

ITINERARY CHANGES

  • Weather conditions in Australia can change quickly, and our experienced guides will always put the safety of our passengers first and stay abreast of weather conditions.
  • Itinerary changes may occur to ensure we provide the best possible experience. For example, if it is wet or cold, your Guide may change the beach and outdoor activities with indoor food and wine experiences. Any itinerary changes will be communicated to the group in advance.

Cancellation Policy

Free Cancellation if cancel outside 30days. No refund if cancel within 30days.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
With this specific product's cancellation policy, the suppliers reserve the right of final interpretation.
If your order only pays the deposit of a product: a, if the product has available seats on the departure date and price and contents are the same as the order you placed, the booking would be confirmed by us without additional notification to you, and the deposit is not refundable. b, if the product has no available seats or price or contents are not the same, we might provide alternative options. If you do not agree with the options, the deposit is refundable.
