Half Day Whitewater Rafting Barron River

The beautiful Barron Gorge National Park is only 20 minutes from the centre of Cairns (40 minutes ex-Port Douglas). It’s known for its rugged rainforest mountains, steep ravines, the mighty Barron Falls and of course, Barron Gorge, which has been carved out over thousands of years by the Barron River.

This is where we do our half day white water rafting tour, on the ebb and flow of the Barron River, as it snakes its way down from the mountains and heads out to the Coral Sea. This is a scenic rafting / rainforest adventure which combines calm water floating with a series of white water rapids for adventure and action.

The Barron River Half Day Tour is a fantastic introduction to White Water Rafting. It’s fun, exciting and exhilarating, suitable for all the family*. Enjoy up to two hours rafting, on up to grade 3 rapids.

Our rafts carry up to seven passengers plus your river guide. No experience necessary.

The Family Rafting Half Day Tour is a fantastic introduction to White Water Rafting. This fun and exciting tour is designed for children aged 6 – 11 years and operates on the lower section of the Barron River rapids and Lake Placid, in the Barron Gorge National Park.

This stunning national park is just 20 minutes from Cairns city (40 minutes from Port Douglas) and is known for its spectacular World Heritage listed Rainforest, scenic mountain ranges and of course the Gorge itself, which has been carved out over thousands of years by the flowing waters of the Barron River.

The Half Day Family Rafting Tours in the Barron River is the perfect introduction to children’s rafting. 8 person rafts & 2 person sports rafts are used to experience both styles of rafting during your trip. Sports Rafts are two per raft with an adult and child in each raft. Children 10 years old and above can be in a raft without an adult. A high guide to passenger ratio ensures safety is first class with an emphasis on having a fun day.

The whole family will experience the thrills of paddling in rapids graded 1 – 2, under the watchful eye and tuition of fully trained and certified River Guides. The backdrop is pristine rainforest, providing outstanding scenery and photo opportunities. Please note that this tour does include a brief walk over rocks, to access the rapid section.

All participants will be required to sign a liability release form prior to the trip commencing. The Mulgrave River may be used for half day rafting tours, when the Barron River is not available due to river levels or other reasons.
All fares are inclusive of GST & LEVY in AUD
All participants will be required to sign a liability release form prior to the trip commencing. Should the power station be unavailable the tour will continue to operate on Lake Placid. Rapids will be experienced when power station is operational.

Cancellation Policy

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
If the prodduct can be cancelled within a period of time, please email us at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation date to cancel the product, based on the tour local time zone.
If cancellation is successful, refund would be conducted within 7-28 days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.
Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 14 business days. With this specific product's cancellation policy, the suppliers reserve the right of final interpretation.

Fun and exciting. The tour guide also took nice photos! We will try the next level of river rafting when come back to Cairns!
