Cairns Liveaboard Cruise on the Great Barrier Reef
Our liveaboard vessel OceanQuest is the ultimate Great Barrier Reef overnight experience from Cairns. Spend your days and nights exploring the best outer Great Barrier Reef dive sites aboard our floating accommodation, with snorkel, intro dive and certified dive options available.
When just one day at the reef isn’t enough, an overnight trip from Cairns gives you all the time you need. Visit our colourful dive and snorkel sites during the day, and at night everything from the air conditioned cabins with en suites, lounge and bar, are designed for your comfort.
Our three-deck, 35m catamaran is purpose built for a top class dive holiday, with a spacious dive deck, large open sundecks and hot, fresh water showers. All delicious meals are prepared by our onboard chef, including hearty breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Enjoy a well-deserved dessert treat after your day in the water!
Choose to stay from one to five nights on board, with departures available seven days a week.
Overnight (liveaboard) Great Barrier Reef trips from Cairns are truly a remarkable adventure. With more than 14 permanent moorings at Saxon and Norman reefs, and selected sites at Hastings Reef, snorkellers and divers of all levels can explore the reef and its diverse marine life from early morning to night.

An overnight experience is also the perfect time to complete or enhance your practical dive training at the outer Great Barrier Reef. With our expert dive instructors, you’ll be in the best possible hands.

During your Cairns overnight boat trip, you’ll visit incredible snorkel sites that show you the best treasures of the reef, glimpsing beautiful fish, corals, turtles and more. At night, take part in our exhilarating Sharks in the Dark snorkeling experience at no extra cost.
Onboard, everything from the air-conditioned cabins with en suites and TV, lounge and bar and entertainment facilities, is designed for your comfort. Cabins contain either one double or two single beds – choose your preferred option when booking. Our onboard chef prepares fresh, delicious meals to fuel you for your next trip underwater.
And if you decide you’d like to try an introductory dive during your stay on our ‘reef hotel’, our friendly crew will be only too happy to assist.

There’s so much diversity at different times of the day on the reef, and on an overnight experience you can experience dives from early morning to night. At Divers Den your diving experience can be catered to your needs, we offer the option for certified divers to dive with a buddy or with one of our professional guides for a small extra cost, giving you the independence to explore the Reef how you like!
In between your Great Barrier Reef dives, you’ll have plenty of time to rest and enjoy yourself on board our floating accommodation. From the comfort of your air-conditioned cabin with en suite bathroom, to the relaxing surrounds of our sun decks, lounge and bar, you’ll love your Divers Den liveaboard experience.
Meals are freshly prepared on board by our resident chef, and there are snacks and drinks available to keep you fuelled and ready to explore the reef.

There’s no better place to get a taste of the thrill of diving than at the outer Great Barrier Reef on board our liveaboard vessel OceanQuest. Set off on an overnight cruise from Cairns and try scuba diving with our expert team, surrounded by some of the world’s most incredible marine life.On a liveaboard dive trip you’ll have extra time to enjoy the experience of diving for the first time. Our friendly crew will take you through your briefings and teach you everything you need to know, then guide you through your first dive at one of our colourful dive and snorkel sites around the Saxon, Norman or Hastings Reefs.You’ll be in good hands with our professional team, entering the water with a maximum of four divers to one instructor. Once you’re feeling comfortable breathing underwater, you’ll learn how to descend safely to 12 metres (40 feet) and discover a whole new underwater world.
You can pre-book a package of two intro dives on OceanQuest. Subject to availability and trip duration, you may be able to add more dives once you’re on board.
In between dives and snorkel sessions, fuel up with delicious and plentiful meals served by our chef. Relax on board in the lounge or bar, or try our unique Sharks in the Dark activity and Snorkel experience night on the reef. Then drift off to sleep in your air-conditioned cabin with en suite and TV, ready to do it all again in the morning.
How many are scuba dives included with a Intro dive package?
2 Dives in a the package , Introductory Dives can be added for an additional charge of $70 for 1 Dive or $120 for 2 dives. Extras dives can be purchased on board subject to availability.
2 Day, 1 Night Itinerary
7.30-8am: Pick up from your city accommodation (if booked) and check in at our dive centre at 319 Draper Street before transferring to the marina
8.30am: Set off from Cairns Marina and cruise out to the reef on our day trip vessel SeaQuest with two dive/snorkel sessions before you transfer onto OceanQuest.
2.30pm: During the afternoon you’ll have the opportunity for more snorkel and dive sessions, and to relax on board.
6pm: Dinner is served
6.30pm: Sharks in the Dark
10pm: Bar closes
7.30am: Breakfast time! Sit down to a full cooked breakfast to fuel you for the day ahead.
8.30am: Dive or snorkel session

12pm: Check out of your cabin
2.30pm: Our transfer vessel arrives to return you to Cairns
3pm: Depart Outer Barrier Reef
5pm (approx): Return to your Cairns accommodation

7.30-8am: Pick up from your city accommodation (if booked) and check in at our dive centre on Draper Street, before transferring to the marina
8.30am: Set off from Cairns Marina for the 90-minute trip to the Outer Barrier Reef. If departing on Wednesday, you’ll set off on board OceanQuest and settle into your cabin on the way. If departing Thursday or Friday, you’ll be on our day boat SeaQuest and select your equipment and receive in depth safety briefings along the way.
10am: Arrive at the reef for your first snorkel or dive (SeaQuest only)
12pm: Enjoy lunch while we move to our second dive and snorkel site (SeaQuest only)
12:30pm: Second dive or snorkel opportunity (SeaQuest only)
2.30pm: Transfer to OceanQuest and settle into your cabin (SeaQuest only)
3.30pm: Third dive or snorkel session (Or first session if departing on Wednesday)
