This package offers the flexibility to explore the island at your own pace, taking in its spectacular scenery, beautiful beaches, and fantastic National Parks.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1: Adelaide to Kangaroo Island & Emu Bay Arrival

Begin your journey with an early morning departure from Adelaide (coach or self-drive) through the scenic Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis. Board the SeaLink ferry service to Kangaroo Island. Upon arrival, collect your Budget Rent-A-Car at the Penneshaw SeaLink Ferry Terminal. Kangaroo Island, over 155km long and 55km wide, is Australia’s third-largest island. Over the next four days, you'll have the freedom to explore its spectacular coastal scenery, beautiful beaches, scenic landscapes, and fantastic National Parks. Head to your base at Emu Bay Holiday Homes, a peaceful rural property boasting million-dollar views of Emu Bay's long white beach. Emu Bay Holiday Homes offer plenty of space for every budget and style, and their surrounding gardens attract a diverse range of birds. The location is perfect for relaxing walks through the bushlands, and it's centrally located for day trips while being only 500 meters from the beach and jetty. You may like to visit the nearby Emu Bay Lavender Farm for breakfast or lunch and sample their lavender beauty products or even Lavender Gin.

Day 2: Coastal Wonders & Local Delights

Today, you can visit the island's most famous attraction, Seal Bay, to witness a large group of wild Australian sea lions surfing right before your eyes! (Please note: Seal Bay entrance fee is not included and is an additional cost). You may choose to explore the north coast of the island with Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures on board their Island Explorer vessel (additional cost) or indulge in a full day of fishing with Emu Bay Fishing Charters (additional cost). At Bay of Shoals Wines (Kingscote), you can taste their award-winning wines while enjoying superb views overlooking the Bay of Shoals and Reeves Point.

Day 3: Wildlife & North Coast Exploration

From Emu Bay, explore the stunning north coast beaches of KI such as Stokes Bay, Western River Cove, and Snellings Beach. Alternatively, head into the heartland of the island to visit the township of Parndana and the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. Here, you'll see a wide range of Kangaroo Island and Australia's rare and unique wildlife. Get up close with koalas, see penguins swim and play, hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies, learn about endangered species, and interact with snakes, crocodiles, and reptiles.

Day 4: Flinders Chase National Park & Departure

On your final day, visit Flinders Chase National Park, a sanctuary for native Australian wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, and echidnas. Capture awesome photo opportunities at Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, a natural nursery and safe haven for playful Long-nosed Fur Seals that can be seen resting, swimming, and playing in the waves or on the rocks (entry fee into Flinders Chase National Park is an additional cost). In the afternoon, return your hire car to the Penneshaw SeaLink Ferry Terminal before 6:45 PM. Your 7:30 PM ferry departs Penneshaw and arrives in Cape Jervis at 8:15 PM. The SeaLink coach then departs Cape Jervis at 8:30 PM, returning to Adelaide around 10:30 PM (either at selected Adelaide Hotels or the Adelaide Central Bus Station drop-off).
