Embark on a full-day journey to South Australia's premium wine region, the Barossa, to sample some of its finest wines, including those from the world-famous Jacob's Creek Visitor Centre. Conclude your day exploring Australia's oldest German settlement, Hahndorf, nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills.

Itinerary

Your tour begins with a comfortable drive from the city of Adelaide northwards to the world-renowned Barossa wine region. As you travel, you'll enjoy the scenic transformation into the sprawling vineyards of South Australia’s premium wine district.

Your first stop is at the multi-award-winning Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to sample their famous wines in a structured tasting, be taken on an informative tour of the surrounding vines and cellar door, and then enjoy a delightful morning tea as you overlook the picturesque vineyards.

From there, you'll head to Mengler Hill Lookout for sweeping panoramic views over the valley, offering a fantastic photo opportunity of the vast Barossa landscape. Following this, it's onto Lambert Estate in Angaston for a guided wine tasting and a delicious two-course lunch, allowing you to savour more of the region's renowned culinary and vinous delights.

Leaving the Barossa, you'll drive past the unique Herbig Family Tree at Springton, a hollow tree trunk that remarkably provided a home for Friedrich and Caroline Herbig and two of their 16 children until 1860, offering a glimpse into early settler life. You'll then wind your way through the picturesque Adelaide Hills and visit the Beerenberg Farm Shop. Here, you can learn about the fascinating story of how Beerenberg began and the history of the area. You’ll also have time to discover their entire range of delicious jams, sauces, and condiments, and purchase from their selection of farm-fresh produce, souvenirs, and gifts.

After your Beerenberg visit, the coach will drop you on the main street of Hahndorf, giving you free time to explore this charming German village. Wander through its many shops and galleries full of local arts, crafts, and produce, or perhaps visit one of the historic pubs where you can sample some traditional German beers, soaking in the unique cultural atmosphere before your return journey.
