Day 1: Arrival at Fraser Island (K'gari)
Check in at the Resort: Upon arrival at Hervey Bay, River Heads, proceed to check in and drop off your luggage. Take a 45-minute ferry ride to Fraser Island and check in at the four-star Kingfisher Bay Resort.
Free Activities: After freshening up, you can take a stroll along the resort's boardwalk and experience the tranquillity of the lakeside rainforest. Alternatively, you can swim in the resort's pool or creek or participate in various beach activities and guided tours at an additional cost. In the evening, you can enjoy watching the sunset from the pier cabins.
The departure times from River Heads to Fraser Island are usually at 9 am, 12:30 pm (this is the default time), 3:30 pm, and 6:45 pm.
Day 2: Fraser Island Beauty Spots Tour

Tour/activity details:
Learn about the natural and cultural history of K'gari, Fraser Island. Enjoy the crystal-clear, blue waters of Lake McKenzie, the island's most beautiful perched lake. From Central Station, walk along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek as it flows silently through the rainforest. Marvel at the tall, majestic satinay trees of Pile Valley. Drive along spectacular Seventy-Five Mile Beach. Enjoy a stop at fresh Eli Creek, this swift-flowing creek, the largest on the eastern beach, spills 80 mega litres of water into the ocean every day. Visit the Maheno shipwreck and marvel at the coloured sands of the Pinnacles. See an ancient forest being uncovered as Stonetool Sand Blow moves across the island.
Commentary will be conducted in English. A foreign language app is available.
This tour has Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation.

Day 3: Free Activities
Continue to enjoy the various facilities within the resort at an additional cost. You can go fishing, try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), ride a Segway (available for ages 12 and above, weight limit 50kg-100kg) for $79, participate in archery ($20 for adults / $15 for children aged 8 and above), go bird-watching, or simply relax by the pool, stroll along the beach, and explore walking trails.
Day 4: Free Activities and Departure
After breakfast, check-out procedures can be completed. If there is time, you can continue to enjoy the facilities within the resort. In the afternoon, board the ferry to return to Hervey Bay, River Heads. From there, you can arrange your own transportation or opt for the CON-X-ION shuttle service to return to Brisbane or the Gold Coast, marking the end of your delightful Fraser Island journey.
The departure times from Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island are usually at 7:50 am, 10:30 am, 2 pm (this is the default time), and 5 pm.

Enjoy a Fraser Island Morning Whale Watching Cruise Half-Day Tour, usually valued at $175 per person, included at no additional cost!
Humpback whales usually appear in Hervey Bay from early August to mid-October. During this time, about a thousand humpbacks will spend anywhere from a day to two weeks relaxing and nurturing their calves here. As the whales come in close to the boats, they are easily seen in the clear waters of the bay. Marine rangers/skippers will provide commentary and a multimedia presentation. The itinerary is subject to change due to weather and tide conditions.
This is undoubtedly one of the best whale watching experiences, with dozens of whales playfully approaching the boat and offering a chance to even swim with them (subject to conditions on the day). This strongly recommended activity can be scheduled for the morning of the third day, from 7:20 am to 12:00 pm.

From Brisbane: Approx. 3.5-hour drive north
From Sunshine Coast: Approx. 2.5-hour drive north
From Rainbow Beach: Approx. 1.5-hour drive north
From Gold Coast: Approx. 4.5-hour drive north
Alternatively, a round-trip shuttle service is available from Brisbane and Gold Coast—please enquire at time of booking.
Arrival and Transfer Process
Upon arrival at the River Heads Mainland Reception:
Guests will check in at the reception.
A courtesy coach will transfer you to the ferry departure point.
The Kingfisher Bay Resort Ferry will take you across to the island.
On arrival at Kingfisher Bay Resort, board the custom 4WD coach for your tour.
Journey Time: Approx. 60 minutes
If no departure time is selected at booking, the system will automatically assign the default ferry times.
Optional upgrades are available for one-way transfers from Hervey Bay Airport or Hervey Bay City.
Transportation on Arrival
- After disembarking the ferry, guests can either:
- Take the free on-island shuttle train
- Walk approximately 5–7 minutes to the resort lobby
Parking at River Heads
- Secure, monitored parking is available adjacent to River Heads Reception.
- Open: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Guests will be issued a security code for access upon arrival.

- To assist with room allocation, please advise if any guests are elderly or have limited mobility.

- The full-day Beauty Spots Tour is scheduled for Day 2 of the stay unless otherwise specified.
- Room upgrades to Spa, King, King Bay, or Family rooms are available. Please ensure the correct package code corresponding to your preferred room type is used when booking.
- Under Queensland law, all passengers must be appropriately restrained during vehicle travel, including infants. Children cannot be held or nursed while in transit. Guests are requested to provide their own baby or booster seats. If this is not possible, please notify the Reservations team at the time of booking (limited seats available).
