Discover Bait Reef SNORKEL OR DIVE THE GREAT BARRIER REEF

Dive or snorkel the Great Barrier Reef with this small and exclusive tour to some of the reef’s lesser-visited but most pristine areas.
Discover all the beauty and diversity of the Great Barrier Reef with a visit to some of its most secluded and precious areas, on this unforgettable day trip from Hamilton Island.
The Great Barrier Reef is home to a remarkable variety of marine life, plants and animals including sharks, rays, turtles and fish as well as corals and seaweeds.
Experience this amazing destination with our unique full day diving adventure taking you to Bait Reef - an intermediate to advanced dive site. We take smaller groups to this secluded dive spot and provide a guided dive experience.

Departing Hamilton Island the reef is accessed by our premium, purpose built dive and snorkel vessel, with has two levels of air conditioned luxury, lounge style seating, a partially shaded deck and showers onboard. There is a full beam swim platform which allows you to enter and exit the water with ease.

Enjoy a fresh and healthy selection of refreshments throughout the day including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

  • Small tour group. Numbers for this trip are kept well under capacity, to ensure you’re able to enjoy your reef experience with as much space - and peace and quiet - as possible.
  • Visit pristine, less-visited areas of the Reef. Your tour includes a stop at Bait Reef - a special management area with pristine coral structures and an incredible display of marine life. You will also visit renowned dive sites at Stepping Stones, Paradise Lagoon and Banjouras Lagoon.
  • Travel in comfort. You will travel to the Reef on board one of Hamilton Island’s purpose-built, 24-metre catamarans. As well as a dive platform with hydraulically lowered stairs, each catamaran boasts lounge style seating, an air-conditioned interior, partially shaded deck, and freshwater hot and cold showers.
  • Quality equipment. High quality Mares diving and snorkeling gear is supplied, along with wetsuits/stinger suits and flotation jackets (if required).
  • Splash, snorkel, dive or soak up the reef. With all equipment provided, you will have plenty of opportunities to snorkel around Bait Reef Marine Park. You can also spend your time diving, swimming or simply splashing about and enjoying the beauty of this world heritage are

  • 6.45am Check in at Shute Harbour Terminal-Airlie Beach (Lot 296 Whitsunday Dr, Shute Harbour QLD 4802)
  • 7.45am Check in at Hamilton Island Explore dock on the Marina.
  • 8.00am - Depart Hamilton Island Marina for Bait Reef Marine Park.
  • 10.00am - Arrive Bait Reef Marine Park for diving and snorkelling.
  • 2.00pm - Depart Bait Reef Marine Park for Hamilton Island Marina.
  • 4.00pm - Arrive back at Hamilton Island Marina.
  • 5.20pm - Arrive back at Shute Harbour Terminal-Airlie Beach 
  • A  minimum of 3.5 hours to enjoy the Great Barrier Reef Site.

  • Airlie Beach Departure : Meet at 06.50am for check in, for a 07:00am departure. Meeting point is at Shute Harbour Terminal Lot 296 Whitsunday Dr, Shute Harbour (Airlie Beach) QLD 4802
    The Airlie Beach city center hotel is approximately a 15-minute drive from Shute Harbour, and guests will need to arrange a taxi themselves to get there.
  • Hamilton  Island  Departure : Meet the meet up location at Hamilton  Island : Explore's Pure Dive and Reef Explorer vessels are located in the Marina Village at A9/10 Arm, opposite Explore's office.

  • All tours are subject to minimum numbers and to weather conditions and so may be cancelled at the discretion of the operator.
  • Explore will offer alternative days or refunds in the event of cancellations.
  • Explore reserve the right to use other vessels should Pure Dive or Reef Explorer be unavailable for any reason.
  • Cruise company and the captain of the day have the authority to alter the sailing/cruising route, as well as the locations for diving and snorkeling, due to weather conditions, tides, and waves. We must ensure the safety of the entire cruise and the stability of the journey. It may be necessary to make changes to the sailing route.
  • For the  guests are booked for a Discovery Scuba Dive . We require that at least one person of the group can understand the explanations in English and guidance of the Instructor and all guest will need to be able to swim for 100m.
  • Windy Weather Cruise
    When cruising to the Outer Reef the strength of the wind plays a large factor in the quality of the experience. For guests comfort we know wind strength should be under approx 20knots (35km per hour) to visit the Outer Reef. In the Whitsundays, we are fortunate to have Islands offering protected cruising areas, along with Fringing Reef for snorkelling. On windy days, we change our cruise to within the islands, visiting two separate dive/snorkel sites as well as a stopover at world famous Whitehaven Beach as a bonus.
  • For Certified Diver : All divers must complete a medical questionnaire and may require a medical prior to diving. Please discuss this with us at the time of booking.
    - You must produce your certification card and/or log book at the time of booking
    - Your full day experience includes 2 Cert dives at the reef
    - Your fees include all gear hire
    - You will be guided by our experience Divemasters or Instructors
    - As some of our dive locations are advanced dive sites you may be required to complete a refresher programme if you last was more than 12 months ago. Please discuss this with us at time of booking
    - Children must be 12 years and older to participate in diving. Divers aged 12 to 14 years old must dive with a certified parent or guardian.

Cancellation Policy

Free Cancellation if cancel outside 2days. No refund if cancel within 2days.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
