Tangalooma Island Resort is only a 75-minute trip on a catamaran from Brisbane. The resort is the perfect family holiday destination for guests seeking a unique and educational nature adventure, right on Brisbane’s doorstep on the incredible Moreton Island.
Protected and treasured, this place is where amazing natural encounters are just part of the everyday experience. With heaps of tours and activities on offer, Tangalooma is the jewel of Moreton Bay and islands. Activities on offer include Brisbane's best Whale Watching Cruise, ATV Quad Bike Tours, Marine Discovery Cruise, the Desert Safari Tour with sand tobogganing, Snorkelling the Tangalooma Wrecks and so much more! Finally, the star attraction at the resort is the unique guest activity of hand feeding a pod of wild bottlenose dolphins!

Itinerary

Day 1: Upon arrival at Tangalooma Island Resort, you can start participating in the island activities.

  • 10:00 AM: Ferry departure - Board the ferry at Brisbane Dolphin Island Wharf for your journey to Dolphin Island (approximately 75 minutes one way).
  • 11:15 AM: Arrival at Dolphin Island - Proceed to the front desk for check-in. Your luggage will be directly delivered to your room. Please note that the actual check-in time is after 2:00 PM.
  • 12:00 PM: Lunch time - You have about an hour to enjoy lunch. The resort offers four different restaurants with various styles for you to choose from (at your own expense).
  • After lunch, you can participate in the island's featured activities based on the scheduled time you booked when placing your order.
  • You can visit the Activity Reservation Center at the reception area upon arrival to book sandboarding, helicopter tours, sightseeing and feeding tours, and dolphin feeding. Please ensure to arrange your activities promptly as availability may be limited if you arrive late. If you wish to book additional activities on the island, such as snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, banana boating, parasailing, and more, you can make arrangements in advance.
  • Around 7:00 PM: Evening dolphin feeding - After sunset, the wild dolphin family living in Moreton Bay will appear in the shallow waters in front of the resort. Under the guidance of the staff, you will have the opportunity to hand-feed the wild dolphins for a unique wildlife experience on Dolphin Island. The dolphins will swim back to the resort, and the staff will provide small fish for you to feed them. After the dolphin feeding experience, you can take a walk on the beach, enjoy the shimmering night sky, and gaze at the countless stars.
  • After all of your activities, you can return to your room, think about your day of vacation, and plan for more activities tomorrow.

You need to take care of your own lunch and dinner. Dolphin Island offers four specialty restaurants with different tastes. You can choose according to your own tastes and preferences:
  • Beach Cafe: A seaside restaurant that provides affordable and generous fast food such as burgers, pizza, fish and chips, etc.
  • Coffee Lounge: Provides hot coffee, sandwiches, wraps and other quick meals
  • 'Fire': Sichuan Chinese Dining: The chef comes from Sichuan Shuijingfang Restaurant, providing authentic Sichuan cuisine, a favourite among Chinese customers

Day 2: Free Day

  • You can wake up naturally and head to the restaurant for breakfast (at your own expense).
  • You can enjoy many of the 40+ complimentary activities offered by the resort.
  • Make sure to explore the island's beaches and engage in leisurely activities.
  • Consider the various options (at your own expense) available on the island for additional activities.
  • Recommended dining option: "TURSIOPS Restaurant" at Tangalooma Island Resort is a delicious à la carte breakfast (at your own expense).

Day 3: Free Day

  • After waking up on the third day, you can enjoy another excellent breakfast (breakfast vouchers available).
  • 10:00 AM: After breakfast, make sure to check out of your room. You can store your luggage at the front desk and continue exploring other activities on Moreton Island.
  • At 4:00 PM you can board the ferry to return to Brisbane's Moreton Island Ferry Terminal.

It is recommended to book in advance or make reservations at the island's front desk/activity center.

Optional activities available at an additional cost - It is advisable to book in advance:
  1. Desert Safari Tour + Sand Tobogganing: 1.5 hours - Experience a thrilling adventure on the island's sand dunes by riding a 4WD vehicle and engaging in activities like sand tobogganing. Explore the sandy terrain and enjoy the excitement of speeding down a steep sand dune on nothing but a board.
  2. Marine Discovery Cruise: 1.5 hours - Embark on a marine exploration journey aboard a cruise ship. Head southwest of the island in search of turtles, manta rays, dolphins, sea cucumbers, and dugongs (also known as "mermaids" or "sea cows").
  3. Snorkel Tour to the Wrecks: 1.5 hours - Dive into the underwater world of the Tangalooma Wrecks, an area where several sunken ships have become home to a variety of soft corals and subtropical fish. This is one of the most unique snorkeling spots in Australia and offers a chance to encounter turtles and dugongs. (ages 6 and above)
  4. Whale Watch Cruise: 3 hours - A must-try activity during winter! Set off on a whale watching cruise and witness the majestic humpback whales in their natural habitat. This family-friendly experience allows you to observe these magnificent marine creatures up close. (Seasonal activity available from mid-June to October 11th) [Included in the itinerary]

  • Bed Room Facilities: Balcony (partial ocean view or garden view), private bathroom, minibar, television, air conditioning, hairdryer, mini refrigerator.

Resort Unit (For a maximum of 4 people)

  • Bed Type and Room Facilities: The room may have partial ocean view or garden view, and balcony is not guaranteed. The other facilities and bed type are the same as the standard room. However, the room is equipped with an electric kettle, kitchenware, and a microwave with oven function (no electric stove/gas stove). There is also a toaster available.
  • Bed Type: 1 Queen Bed or 1 Single Bed + 1 Single Sofa Bed (Divan)

Hotel Deluxe Room (For a maximum of 4 people)

Family Room (maximum 6 people)

Tour Inclusions

  • When placing an order, please make sure to select the round-trip ferry ticket from Brisbane to Moreton Island. Ferry tickets cannot be purchased separately.
  • Accommodation: Choose a 3-night stay at a selected hotel on Moreton Dolphin Island (standard room, deluxe room, or other room types).
  • In the evening, participate in a hands-on dolphin feeding activity and observe wild dolphins at the wharf (activity may be affected by tides and weather).
  • Enjoy a variety of over 40 free activities on the island, such as beach volleyball, badminton, table tennis, tennis, archery, rainforest walks, and more.

  • Please note that advance reservations are required for the ferry. If no departure time is provided, a default departure time will be selected at 10:00 am with a return at 4:00 PM" is grammatically correct and conveys the intended meaning.
  • For those who prefer to drive or make their own way to Brisbane, the Tangalooma Island Resort Ferry Terminal is located at Holt St Wharf. The parking fee at Brisbane Wharf is $20 per day or $80 per week. The parking area is an open-air parking lot with fencing, and the gates are locked in the evening.

  • The resort requires personal information for each guest. Please make sure to provide the following details when making a reservation:

  • All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD).
  • This itinerary is based on a minimum of 1 person.
  • This is a special package, and the prices for children and adults are the same.
  • The package price is per person for a group of 2 to 4 people sharing one room.
  • The resort requires personal information for each guest. When making a reservation, please make sure to provide the following: each traveler's name/accommodation address/email/phone number (each traveler must provide this information).
  • During peak season/weekend holidays/school holidays, availability for group bookings and accommodations is limited. In case of hotel unavailability, alternative hotels or room upgrades may be offered. The company reserves the right to adjust accommodation prices before ticket issuance. If the price is higher than the original sale price, you may choose to receive a refund. Changes cannot be made after ticket issuance.
  • Children under 3 years old travel free of charge (no bed or ferry seat provided). If you need a baby cot, it can be provided at the hotel for a small additional fee.
  • The itinerary is for reference only. The actual itinerary may be subject to changes due to weather conditions and transportation. Please refer to the actual travel arrangements.
  • Sandboarding may not be available in rainy or adverse weather conditions. In such cases, the sandboarding activity may be replaced with a "4WD Island Desert Sightseeing Tour."
  • This is a semi-guided tour. There will be no guide accompanying you throughout the trip, but drivers and staff will be available for assistance on the island and during the ferry ride.

Gold Coast to Brisbane Transfer:

  • You can book a pick-up from a hotel in the Gold Coast city area and be dropped off at a Brisbane hotel after the tour. Alternatively, you can choose a pick-up from a Brisbane hotel and be dropped off at a Gold Coast hotel after the tour. Please select the corresponding transfer option for the Dolphin Island Day Tour (self-drive) + Optional Activities.
  • Baggage limit: Each person is allowed 1 piece of checked luggage (up to 20 kg) and 1 piece of carry-on luggage. The cost of transportation to the resort includes a 20 kg esky or food storage container per accommodation. Launch fees include luggage handling directly to and from most rooms. Please refer to the luggage restrictions.

Activities Terms:

  • The optional activity of Snorkelling at the Wreck is a 100-minute session (including safety briefing and boat ride). The departure times for the ATV tour are 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 4:00 PM, with a duration of 45 minutes (including safety briefing). Participants are required to wear protective shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Children aged 6 and above can participate.
  • Note: The presence of wild dolphins is a natural phenomenon and cannot be artificially guaranteed. Sometimes, due to unfavorable weather conditions, it may not be possible to visit Dolphin Beach. The probability of dolphin sightings is approximately 98%. Information for Dolphin Feeding:
    • Before the dolphin feeding, there will be a briefing by staff for about 10 minutes. It is essential to pay attention to the instructions.
    • The dolphins being fed are wild animals, and touching them is strictly prohibited. Any consequences resulting from touching the dolphins will be the responsibility of the guest.
    • Guests who do not participate in the dolphin feeding can watch the feeding from the jetty.
    • The presence of wild dolphins is a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed.
    • It is recommended for guests participating in the dolphin feeding to bring their own towels or a change of clothes as you may get wet up to the bottom of your shirt.
  • Helicopter Terms: Each designated guest with a reservation will receive a "Tour 1" helicopter flight voucher. Guests must personally visit the Heli Hut at the resort to book their activity departure time on the same day, as availability is not guaranteed for latecomers. The activity duration is 6 minutes, and a minimum of 2 passengers is required for each flight. Visitors are required to provide their weight, and some passengers may need to travel separately from others during the booking process. If the pilot deems it safe, children under 3 years old may sit on their parents' laps. Children aged 3 and above must occupy a separate seat. Please note that due to operational reasons, flight times and routes may vary.
  • Desert Safari Tour: In the event of rain or poor weather conditions that make sandboarding inconvenient or unsafe, the sandboarding/sand tobogganing activity may be replaced with a “4WD Desert Safari Sightseeing Tour”, which includes a visit to the Tangalooma Wrecks Beach. Each guest named in the booking will receive a ticket for this as a part of their check-in process. This is because sandboards cannot operate on wet or rainy conditions. Guests will also be required to visit the resort’s tour desk to confirm the schedule of their tour; failure to do so may result in missing the tour during their island visit.
  • Terms and Conditions for Sightseeing and Fish Feeding Tour: Each nominated guest with a reservation will receive a ticket for the "Sightseeing and Fish Feeding Tour" as part of their check-in process. Guests must visit the resort's tour services desk to confirm their itinerary time, as they may miss available time slots if they fail to do so during their visit.
  • Tour Safety Terms: Some activities and tours require a high level of physical exertion and may pose health or safety risks. For your safety, if you have any of the following conditions, you must disclose any injuries, medical conditions (such as pregnancy, epilepsy, asthma, or cardiovascular diseases), disabilities, illnesses that may be exacerbated by or may interfere with your ability to safely participate in our products, before making a reservation. If you are unsure or have any other concerns, you should seek advice from your family physician before participating.
  • Please note that it is a condition of booking that prior to booking an ATV Quad bike tour at the Resort that you must pre-read the Liability Waiver for this tour which can be found here.
  • ATV Quad Bike:  Children aged 5 - 9 year olds can ride on the back of a parents bike if parents have signed all required waiver forms and provide valid drivers licence from their country of origin. 10 - 15 year olds can ride on their own as long they are chaperoned by an adult, and we have parents consent via signature on the waiver form. Individuals under the age of 18 will be allocated an appropriate quad bike in line with the manufacturer's safety and age specifications. As such they may be required to drive a smaller/lower-powered quad than those allocated to adults. Second-ride discount is subject to availability and only applies to individual bike rides not tandems. Tandem quads drivers can carry a passenger only if the driver has a valid drivers licence from their country of origin. Duration of this tour is 40–45 minutes including briefing and training.

Things to know about items not allowed to bring:

    • Beach carts and strollers: Please note that all beach/garden carts (such as Spinifex) and strollers must be folded before boarding the ferry. Burleigh Wagons are allowed for overnight guests but will be considered as checked-in items. Day-trip guests are not allowed to use Burleigh Wagons.
    • Skateboards, ripstiks, and bicycles are not allowed. Scooters, rollerblades/skates are only allowed on the footpath and not indoors. If misused, these items will be confiscated by the management.
    • Guests are not allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Tengoku Luma Resort holds a liquor license, and bringing your own alcohol to the premises and/or on the boat is considered illegal.
    • Flammable and explosive items are not allowed on board, such as flammable materials/fuels, explosives, combustibles, spears/harpoons for fishing, corrosive agents, toxic liquids, weapons/firearms, sharp objects, gas canisters for cooking.
    • Smoking, drinking alcohol, and carrying illegal substances are not allowed on board.
    • The use of recreational drones is not permitted for safety reasons, and our designated Tengoku Luma helipad is in close proximity to our resort. The use of recreational drones within a 5.5-kilometer radius of Tengoku Luma Island Resort is not allowed during helicopter operating hours (8 AM to 5 PM). For specific terms, please refer here.

Cancellation Policy

25% surcharge if change or cancel after order is placed. No refund if cancel within 14days.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
With this specific product's cancellation policy, the suppliers reserve the right of final interpretation.
If your order only pays the deposit of a product: a, if the product has available seats on the departure date and price and contents are the same as the order you placed, the booking would be confirmed by us without additional notification to you, and the deposit is not refundable. b, if the product has no available seats or price or contents are not the same, we might provide alternative options. If you do not agree with the options, the deposit is refundable.
