This is a tour with a difference out in Gold Coast, Australia. Join a hardy crew on board a boat that heads down the Tweed River where you will try your hand at trapping some live mud crabs right out of the water. It's a great adventure that'll bring fun and joy for the whole family as all the equipment will be provided for you. Under the watchful guidance of the crew, you'll learn how to trap the crabs, haul them out of the water, and even determine which ones are good quality. You can also feed some of the wild pelicans hankering for a handout on the boat, and learn how to pump for yabbies! Yabbies are crustaceans often hidden under the mud, so you'll have to use special pumps to fish them right out. After all the fun adventures on board, you'll head to a local oyster farm for a tour and even sample from delicious fresh oysters. It's an absolutely enjoyable (and delicious!) tour to enjoy out in Gold Coast.

Catch a Crab Tour

Duration about 150 minutes

Embark on a custom-designed cruise for a crabbing and wildlife adventure. The itinerary includes: feeding the local pelicans, catching yabbie pumping in the shallow waters (subject to tides), using crab Basket to catch crabs, informative commentary from the crew about crab and oyster farming, enjoying the thrill of fishing, morning tea, all activity equipment, a tranquil water cruise, and visiting a nature conservation area.

Duration

  • Tours depart daily at 10am from the Birds Bay Oyster Farm and returns at 12.30pm (NSW time) please check schedule for available dates
  • This tour does not operate on Christmas Day or New Years Day

The Oyster Farm (Opens on Friday - Sunday)

Visit their own working oyster farm lease where the Sydney Rock oyster is grown and shucked fresh daily. Learn how an oyster grows and travels from the farm to your plate!

  • Self-Drive: Catch a Crab & Oyster Farm at 11/17 Birds Bay Drive, West Tweed Heads in New South Wales, Australia.
  • GPS：11-17 Birds Bay Drive, West Tweed Heads will set you on the right track. If using Google Maps, simply type 'Catch A Crab' for a convenient.
  • Cruise Depart Time : 9:30 AM NSW Time (8:30 AM QLD Time during daylight saving period). Please arrive 15 minutes early for check-in. The meeting time is for reference only; please refer to the final ticket for confirmation."

  • All per person prices quoted are in Australian dollars and valid from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024.
  • Suitable for all ages, Children under 3 can travel FOC, Child ages between 3-12 years old.
  • Minimum 12 people to operate, we'll confirm 1-2 days prior.

  • Please be aware that the Farm is situated in NSW and operates on NSW time.

What To Wear:

  • Dress in casual clothes such as shorts, t-shirts, slippers, sandals, or sneakers
  • Bring a jacket during cooler weather
  • Wear a sun hat for sun protection. The crew can supply sun protection cream
  • Brin a change of clothes for yabbie pumping

Cancellation Policy

Free Cancellation if cancel outside 24hours. No refund if cancel within 24hours.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
