FAQs

When does the tour operate?

Every day of the year.

What are the pick-up and drop-off times?

Pick-up is usually between 6:45 am and 8:15 am, depending on the selected location.

Please choose a pick-up point from the list provided when making a booking. If travelling to Sydney CBD from the outer suburbs, the pick-up point next to Central Station is recommended. Central Station can be reached by train or bus from many Sydney suburbs.

Please allow an additional 10 minutes for the bus to arrive due to traffic conditions.

Drop-off by ferry in the city centre is usually between 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm.

Where is the pick-up point?

Please choose a pick-up point from the list provided when making a booking.

If travelling to Sydney CBD from the outer suburbs, the pick-up point next to Central Station is recommended. Central Station can be reached by train or bus from many Sydney suburbs.

What is a charter?

A charter is a private tour. Charters are available for groups of 1 to 50 people.

Is the tour suitable for everyone?

The tour is suitable for a wide range of ages and fitness levels. The walks are generally easy and can be enjoyed by most people.

What should be worn?

As a general guide, bring a hat, sunscreen and comfortable footwear during summer.

Closed-in shoes are recommended. During winter, a warm jumper or jacket and a beanie are recommended.

Although temperatures are cooler in winter, summer often experiences higher rainfall. A light raincoat and/or umbrella is recommended.

Please check the weather forecast before travelling.

What happens in poor weather?

Tours do not operate only in extreme weather conditions.

A cool or wet day can be just as rewarding as a sunny day in the Blue Mountains. Waterfalls are often more impressive, wildlife is generally more active, conditions are more comfortable for bushwalking, and the famous blue haze can be even more noticeable.

The main challenge for sightseeing is mist, which can be difficult to predict and may occur even when Sydney is forecast to be sunny.

Does the operator cancel tours?

Tours are rarely cancelled. In extreme circumstances, such as severe weather forecasts or major incidents affecting access to the Blue Mountains, the operator reserves the right to cancel a tour.

If a cancellation occurs, there will be no charge and an alternative date or alternative tour operator may be offered.

How large are the groups and what vehicles are used?

Fixed itinerary tours operate with up to 28 passengers in a deluxe air-conditioned mini coach.

Vehicles are accredited by Transport for NSW and the relevant regulatory authorities.

Can an overnight stay be arranged after the tour?

Passengers can be dropped off at locations that do not require the vehicle to deviate from its regular route.

For overnight stays in the Blue Mountains, Katoomba, Leura and Wentworth Falls are recommended. Passengers may need to arrange their own transport to accommodation.

Return transport the following day may be available if seats are available. Availability must be confirmed on the morning of the return date.

Are student or senior discounts available?

The same low rate is offered to all passengers. No additional student or senior discounts are available.

Is the operator accredited?

Oz Trails is an accredited tour operator with Transport for NSW (#24318) and has been operating since 1999.

The company is also licensed by NSW National Parks and holds public liability insurance.

Can children join the tour?

Children are welcome to travel with family and friends.

The child rate applies to passengers aged 13 years and under. Infants under 2 years of age may travel free of charge while seated on a parent's lap.

Please advise at the time of booking if travelling with infants or young children.

The vehicles are equipped with adult seatbelts only and do not have the anchor points required for child seats or booster seats.

As storage space is limited, only small, collapsible prams can be accommodated. Prior notice is required.

Can luggage be taken on the tour?

Storage space is limited due to the small group size.

Small overnight bags and backpacks can usually be accommodated. Suitcases should not be brought on the tour.

During quieter periods, larger items may be accommodated if sufficient space is available. Please contact the operator before travel to confirm.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, the tour is not fully equipped to cater for wheelchair users or passengers requiring walking frames.

Wheelchairs and walking frames cannot be carried on the vehicle as they may present a safety risk during travel.

Passengers must be able to board and disembark the vehicle without assistance.

Passengers travelling with a fold-up wheelchair must be accompanied by someone who can fold and lift the chair. Drivers are unable to assist with heavy lifting due to workplace health and safety requirements.

The operator must be advised at the time of booking if a fold-up wheelchair will be travelling.

Can I book on the day of the tour?

Advance bookings are recommended.

However, same-day bookings may be possible if passengers can reach the designated pick-up point before departure.

For last-minute online bookings, passengers are encouraged to notify the operator by SMS or email.

What currency are prices listed in?

All prices and transactions are in AUD (Australian dollars).

Is tipping required?

Tipping is not customary or required in Australia.

However, passengers are welcome to tip a guide if they feel the service provided warrants it.

I am arriving on a cruise ship or international flight on the morning of the tour. Can I still join?

It is generally not recommended.

Passengers should allow approximately two hours to clear immigration and travel to their selected pick-up point. In most cases, this will not provide sufficient time to join the tour departure.
