Tour Information

Honey Farm Tour and Honey Tasting with Morning Tea

Every Saturday 11:00am

Love honey? Fascinated by bees and their lifecycle? Join us for a one-hour guided experience at a beautiful Honey Farm located on the grounds of a historic National Trust mansion in Bowral, followed by a guided honey tasting and morning tea.

The experience begins with a guided tour alongside the hives. Wearing a protective head veil, you’ll safely observe bees at work while learning about their remarkable lifecycle and behaviours. The tour continues with a demonstration of a modern hive system, including an (empty) Flow Hive, explaining how hives function and how honey is produced.

You’ll gain insight into the lives of these vital yet at-risk pollinators before moving to a scenic terrace overlooking a dam and rolling hills. Here, you’ll enjoy a guided tasting of six single-floral source honeys, each with its own distinctive appearance, aroma, viscosity, mouthfeel, and flavour.

The experience is completed with a relaxing morning tea featuring freshly baked sourdough, complemented by high-quality leaf tea or plunger coffee.

This is a wonderful activity for family groups and visitors exploring the Southern Highlands.

The apiary is located on the grounds of Retford Park, a stunning historic property just a 5-minute drive from Bowral town centre. Honey is also available for purchase after the visit.

Transportation

Bowral Honey Farm - 1325 Old South Road, Bowral NSW

We're on the grounds of Retford Park, a National Trust proper. Enter through the main gates (1325 Old South Road, Bowral). Drive straight ahead (it's a long driveway, very fancy!) the drive eventually turns off to the right. You'll see my hives and signage set up. You can park in the paddock opposite, or go ahead a little further and park in the gravel parking area. I'd suggest that you arrive 15x minutes early so you're not rushed. We will also have honey available for sale after the visit. This tour takes place on the grounds of Retford Park, NOT our former site in Bowral township. It is a 5x minute drive from Bowral main street.
