This famous Victorian winery region is a leisurely 50-minute drive from Melbourne’s CBD and has more than 80 vineyards dispersed throughout, which means you’ll have plenty to see from the sky-high vantage point of a hot air balloon. Let the breeze usher you along the corridors of grapevines and over the Yarra River as you lose yourself in the breathtaking views of mountains, vineyards and maybe even spot some kangaroos!

Some prefer the scenic route to the Yarra Valley, located just 50 minutes drive from the CBD. Traverse roads through gnarly vineyards and misty farms until a landscape worthy of silence appears. But the journey across Victoria’s most-loved wine region is unrivalled by hot air balloon

Spend an hour up over the Yarra Valley – Victoria’s most spectacular wine regions. Just a 50min drive from the bustle of Melbourne CBD, we rise with the sun and finish with a sparkling buffet breakfast at Balgownie Estate.

  • Yarra Valley – Gateway Market will be the first location visited on our tour and here our guests will experience a highly informative and immersive tour of the extensive greenhouse growing facilities. Led by one of Gateway Market’s horticultural team, this is very much a “touch, smell & taste” experience that explores a vast array of produce, which is sustainably grown using the most modern farming methods. After the greenhouse tour, our guests enjoy a delicious palate-cleansing fruit tasting which really sets them up for the day ahead.

What You’ll Do

We start the day with an exclusive farm gate visit at Yarra Farm Fresh, for a palate-cleansing fruit tasting experience. At this boutique, third-generation orchard, we’ll sample a range of seasonal fruits and other local produce. We will also learn a little about the wide range of farm-fresh fruits grown on the property.

Next, we travel to one of the valley’s true icons, Balgownie Estate where we’ll enjoy a tasting from their extensive range of quality wines. We’ll learn how to swirl, sniff, and slurp like true connoisseurs while tasting some of the very finest cool climate wines.

The amazing produce at the Yarra Valley Dairy will truly melt in your mouth. The cheeses here are truly stunning and will have your tastebuds working overtime!

Our lunch is at the fabulous Rochford Wines where our guests can choose from four different main meals, with a glass of wine and tea or coffee. Take some time to explore the gift shop, or perhaps climb the spiral staircase to enjoy the panoramic views from Rochford’s famous lookout tower.

After lunch, we make our way to one of Australia’s great wineries and a member of the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame, Yering Station. Home of Victoria’s oldest vineyards, first planted in 1838, the wines here are of exceptional quality and a tasting is not to be missed.

Before returning to Melbourne, we’ll visit the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie where you’re welcomed with an exclusive chocolate tasting, displays of thousands of premium chocolates, and European chocolatiers at work handcrafting their chocolate creations.

You will commence the journey home knowing that you have enjoyed the very best that the Yarra Valley has to offer.

Drop off to Melbourne CBD hotels around 17:30pm to finish the full day tour.

  • All per person prices quoted are in Australian dollars and valid from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2025.
  • When placing an order, please provide the following for each traveler: the phonetic English spelling of their name, gender, weight in kilograms, and any dietary restrictions (such as allergies or vegetarian preferences).
  • Please confirm  the balloon activity subject to the Weather by the evening 1 day before the balloon flight. If the weather factors cancel the hot air balloon, passengers can re-book another day of ballooning flight + breakfast, but the winery tasting tour cannot be canceled and refunded, the original booking is required to be attended on the day , winery wine tasting one-day tour bus can be arranged to pick up from the downtown Melbourne if guest not attend the ballooning flight on the day if do , Must notify wine tasting tour bus company one day before.
  • This package is refundable less a $25 admin fee.
  • In the case of your flight being cancelled due to weather, you will have 12mths to rebook or can request a refund.
  • This package is transferrable to other passengers.
  • If your flight is cancelled, the breakfast will not take place. You can rebook the package as a whole.
  • If you’d like to cancel or move your booked flight date, please do so prior to 7 days before.  Cancellations within 7 days and 48hrs of the flight date incur a $100 pp fee.  There are no cancellations within 48hrs of the flight.

  • All balloon flights are weather dependent as we need to ensure it is safe to fly you based on the weather. This will be determined by your pilot.
    Please download our mobile app & input your booking details to receive the latest weather update from our pilot.
    The night before your flight before 6pm, you’ll receive a notification confirming whether we can fly you based on the weather conditions and confirming the exact meeting time. You will be able to check-in for your flight / fill out the waiver on the app the night before.
  • This package is NOT wheelchair accessible.
    The Easy Access Basket is used for our Melbourne flights.
    The basket is about 1m high. We have foot holes in the side of the basket, as well as a step ladder to assist you in and out of the basket.
  • What to Bring : Appropriate clothing for all weather
  • Legal drinking age in Australia is 18 years, please carry relevant ID.
  • Please note you must arrive at your pickup location at least 10 minutes prior to your allocated pickup time.
  • No prams or strollers permitted.
  • We are able to provide an infant seat (0-3 years) or a child booster seat (4-8 years) free of charge. Please note we have only a limited number available each day and they must be pre-booked. Contact us with your request and provide the age of your child along with your confirmation number and booking details.
  • Download the Go West Tours app from the App Store or Google Play prior to your departure for access to our tour language commentary. Available in Arabic, Malay, Cantonese, French, German, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Vietnamese, and Hindi.

With this specific product's cancellation policy, the suppliers reserve the right of final interpretation.
If your order only pays the deposit of a product: a, if the product has available seats on the departure date and price and contents are the same as the order you placed, the booking would be confirmed by us without additional notification to you, and the deposit is not refundable. b, if the product has no available seats or price or contents are not the same, we might provide alternative options. If you do not agree with the options, the deposit is refundable.
