Travel from Launceston to Hobart in 1 day via Wineglass Bay & Freycinet National Park. An action-packed day tour, with sensational scenery, great short walks and many scenic stops along the way.
Highlights
The day begins with a scenic drive out of Launceston, heading toward Tasmania’s breathtaking East Coast. Prepare for a day filled with coastal beauty, walking adventures, and iconic views, including the renowned Wineglass Bay.
The route takes you through the charming Georgian townships of Evandale and Campbell Town. A short stop in Campbell Town allows time to explore the Convict Brick Trail, visit the historic Red Bridge, and admire the chainsaw-carved sculptures that depict the town’s convict and settler history. It's also the perfect opportunity to grab some lunch to enjoy later in the day.
From here, the journey continues east to Freycinet National Park.
Upon arrival, the group begins with the popular walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout. This moderate uphill trail takes approximately 45 minutes and rewards hikers with spectacular panoramic views of Wineglass Bay and the Freycinet coastline. As one of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks,” it requires a reasonable level of fitness and mobility, with the uphill stretch covering 1.3 km before returning downhill. Take your time on the lookout to soak in the scenery and let your guide assist with capturing that picture-perfect moment.
From the lookout, guests have two options: return with the Tour Guide to the start of the trail or continue onwards to Wineglass Bay Beach.
Wineglass Bay Beach Walk – This return hike takes approximately 2.5 hours and requires a higher level of fitness. Those who choose this option will descend to the white sand beach for lunch, a swim in the pristine waters, or a relaxing stroll along the shoreline. It’s one of the most rewarding and iconic walks in Tasmania.
For guests who prefer the shorter walking option, the return journey from the lookout includes visits to other highlights of the park, such as Honeymoon Bay and the scenic Cape Tourville Lighthouse.
Later in the afternoon, the group regathers and begins the journey back. The final stop is at the stunning Devil’s Corner Winery, where there’s time to enjoy the panoramic views and, if you wish, purchase wine tastings, wood-fired pizzas, seafood and oysters from Freycinet Marine Farm, or refreshing ice cream—all at your own expense.
Arrival back in Hobart is expected around 6:00 pm.
