Wildlife Tours & Presentations

Your standard admission pass is valid for five consecutive days, and includes all of our Port Douglas wildlife talks and wildlife presentations. Feeding talks with our Wildlife Keepers offer opportunities to feed an amazing array of wildlife. Get close up to a Cassowary on our Rainforest & Cassowary Feeding Tour or be blown away by the power of the Estuarine Crocodile with our Crocodile Feeding presentation.  Daily animal presentations allow guests to see and touch animals up close. These presentations provide a learning experience about pythons, koalas and crocodiles. For a close encounter, you have the opportunity to purchase a souvenir photo holding these captivating creatures.

Breakfast with Birds at Curlew Café -  Optional experience/package

Home to the famous Breakfast With The Birds

For more than two decades, the iconic Breakfast With The Birds at the Curlew Café has been a must-do for visitors to Far North Queensland who are seeking a unique breakfast experience.

In early 2022, we were thrilled to introduce an ALL NEW Breakfast With The Birds experience. Due to limited seating, reservations are required for this interactive dining opportunity. The Curlew Café team will be serving up scrumptious breakfast platters for each booking.

Guests will be seated in a banquet style setting in our recently constructed Koala Habitat, which is conveniently located under cover within the café. Seasonal delights from the kitchen will be served, such as eggs of the day, tropical antipasto, grilled specialties, baked goods, teas and coffee. While dining, guests can enjoy the company of our wildlife, including the opportunity to get up close and personal with our koalas and birds and also chat with our keepers about their love for wildlife and conservation.

YOUR WildNIGHT Private Tour - The only one in Port Douglas!-  Optional experience/package

Wildnight Nocturnal Tour : Witness the magic of the unique Australian wildlife at dusk. The only nocturnal tour of its kind in Port Douglas, YOUR WildNIGHT Private Tour at Wildlife Habitat offers a 2-hour exclusive guided tour of the park after hours led by a knowledgeable wildlife keeper, providing the opportunity to encounter some of the most fascinating and elusive creatures that may not be visible during the day.

Your experienced guide will lead you through the open-air Savannah to hand-feed kangaroos and admire the local birdlife as they return to roost at sunset. You will gain an understanding of the behaviors and hunting prowess of the mighty Saltwater crocodile, which is most dangerous at dusk and dawn.

As the night sets in, guests witness the magic of the nocturnal animals actively engaging in natural behaviors. Your keeper will introduce you to gliders, pythons, lizards, bettongs, frogmouths, and the spotted tail quoll.

The WildNIGHT Private Tour at Wildlife Habitat offers an opportunity to appreciate the significance of the delicate ecosystems of the Wet Tropics and the importance of conservation to protect our unique wildlife.

Entry Ticket + Swim with the Salties Experience Combo

Get ready to experience the ultimate adrenaline rush and dive into the aquatic territory with the mighty Estuarine Crocodiles at Wildlife Habitat's CrocArena. This is not for the faint of heart, but if you're up for the challenge, this is the only opportunity of its kind in Queensland to swim with these incredible predators and live to tell the tale!

CrocArena is home to the spine-tingling Swim With The Salties experience. Swim just centimetres away from these enormous creatures and engage in the most terrifying experience that comes from watching these apex predators' bone-crushing jaws snap close. Marvel at the sheer power and size of these giant reptiles as you witness their incredible strength and agility up close.

Our Swim With The Salties crocs, Big Al and Ton - from the Australia Zoo, and Goliath are not for the faint-hearted. With an average size of just over 4.5 meters and weighing in at around 350-400 kilograms each, these boys are true beasts. But don't worry, you'll be in safe hands with our experienced guides who will give you a comprehensive briefing on how to stay safe during the swim.

Transportation

  • Parking: Visitors to Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas can take advantage of the complimentary parking available in the park's parking lot, which also includes an electric charging point.
  • Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas is located on Port Douglas Road, just a short drive from the centre of Port Douglas.
  • If you are driving, you can take the Captain Cook Highway north from Cairns and turn onto Port Douglas Road, following the signs to the park.
  • If you are staying in Port Douglas, ask your accommodation about shuttle bus services. Whatever your mode of transportation, getting to Wildlife Habitat is easy and convenient.

Things to Note

  • All prices are quoted in Australian dollars and include GST.
  • The Wildlife Habitat has endeavoured to depict animals in their natural state. Free-roaming animals and birds, elevated boardwalks and conditions simulated to represent the rainforest environment can be dangerous. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • You can enter the Wildlife Habitat at your own risk and on the CONDITION that you have NO RIGHT OF ACTION against the owner or operator of these premises, of their servants or agents, for any injury to you or damage to any property. It does not matter how the injury, loss or damage is caused, even if it is caused by NEGLIGENCE or BREACH OF CONTRACT of the owner or operator of these premises, or their servants or agents.
  • Filming and/or photography is not to be used for commercial purposes without prior written approval from Wildlife Habitat management. Guests must keep to the paths.
  • We recommend hands are washed after contact with animals or fixtures.
  • “Breakfast With The Birds” now available daily. Breakfast commences from 7:45 am and finishes at 9:00 am. Bookings are limited and must be pre-booked prior to travel. Seasonal availability may change without notice. Dietary
    requirements needed in advance, otherwise cannot guarantee these will be catered for. Infants travels FOC, however no food or seat provided.

Swim with the Salties

Safety: CrocArena is a world class facility that has been engineered to ensure customer safety and enjoyment. The swim pool runs a separate water and filtration system to the Croc pools, ensuring cleanliness and water quality for both the swimmer and the crocs. Swimmers will have a staff member within easy access at all times when the experience is underway.

  • Participants must be 12 years and over to Swim with the Salties
  • ID is required for proof of age
  • Persons between 12-17 years must be accompanied by an adult or person over 18 years of age
  • Participants are required to sign an indemnity release form and health waiver from Wildlife Habitat and CaPTA Group of Companies prior to the swim time. Participants between 12-17 year of age are required to have parental consent and indemnity signed by a parent/ legal guardian.
  • Participants must be physically able to get themselves up and down stairs/ steps unassisted, and swim unaided without a flotation device
  • A maximum of 4 people can Swim With The Salties at one time
  • Time in water may vary with each swim – approx. 10 minutes water time per swim
  • Customers must sign a waiver and undertake a safety briefing prior to swim

Estuarine or Saltwater Crocodiles are cold-blooded reptiles. Their energy is sourced from sunlight and their feeding habits can be dictated around weather conditions in their environments.  Far North Queensland has tropical climes and during the 'dry season', May-September, feeding and swim experiences may be affected during these 'colder' months when crocodilians would normally become less active. During 'wet season' build-up around October / November, humid temperatures can change crocodile behaviours and habits and they may become more active. Our CrocArena team are attuned to animal behaviour and every effort will be made to ensure your 'swim with the salties' is memorable, however please be advised these are wild animals and we are unable to guarantee they will feed and engage all year round.

Cancellation Policy

15% surcharge if change or cancel after order is placed. No refund if cancel within 3days.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
With this specific product's cancellation policy, the suppliers reserve the right of final interpretation.
If your order only pays the deposit of a product: a, if the product has available seats on the departure date and price and contents are the same as the order you placed, the booking would be confirmed by us without additional notification to you, and the deposit is not refundable. b, if the product has no available seats or price or contents are not the same, we might provide alternative options. If you do not agree with the options, the deposit is refundable.
