The Island Explorer bus stops at 19 convenient locations around Rottnest Island, allowing you to visit your favourite bays for a swim, hike to the lighthouse, or simply take in the breathtaking scenery. Your all-day ticket allows unlimited use of the bus. Please note that during peak periods, buses may be full, and a short wait may be required.

Depart from Perth with two ferry options at 7:30 am and 10:00 am to enjoy a day in paradise. The ferry ride, which takes approximately 45 minutes, offers a comfortable and stable journey. During the crossing, keep an eye out for migrating whales or the friendly resident quokkas.

Once on Rottnest Island, you’ll find yourself surrounded by secluded beaches and bays, perfect for creating your own adventure. With no set itinerary, you’ll have up to nine hours to explore before the return ferry departs at 4:30 pm.

If you have booked a hotel: Before booking, enter your hotel name in the 'Add Booking Notes' section of the shopping cart. Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation tour voucher with complete tour operator details. You will be required to contact the tour operator a minimum of 48 hours before your day of travel to reconfirm your hotel pick-up time.

If you have not yet booked a hotel: If you have not yet booked a hotel, please enter the words 'hotel not known' in the 'Add Booking Notes' section of the shopping cart. Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation tour voucher with complete tour operator details. You will be required to contact the tour operator a minimum of 48 hours before your day of travel to reconfirm your hotel pick-up time

If you do not require a hotel pick up: If you do not require a hotel pick up and will be meeting the tour at the tour departure point, enter the words 'pick up not required' in the 'Add Booking Notes' section of the shopping cart. Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation tour voucher with complete tour operator details. You will be required to contact the tour operator a minimum of 48 hours before your day of travel to reconfirm your tour and the tour departure point

Things to Note

  • All per-person prices quoted are in Australian dollars
  • Concession fares need to be an Issued Senior Concession ID or a Full-Time Student Concession ID
  • Infants can't book this tour if they can't ride a bike
  • Please provide the full English names of each passenger when placing an order.
  • Island Explorer is NOT a tour is just a transpiration Bus around the island

Recommendations

This ferry transfer includes hotel transfers from all major hotels in Perth, which is great, however, the Rottnest Island admission fee is not included in the price and all passengers are required to pay on arrival.

Overall, the ferry was a comfortable and efficient segue to Rottnest Island. The option also exists to combine your ferry ride with a few activities and tours on and around Rottnest Island, which is great if you're after a guided and informative visit to Rotto.
