What you'll do

Depart the mainland

Your trip will begin at Hillarys Boat Harbour, where the ferry departs. The harbour is located around 25 minutes northwest of Perth CBD and is easily reached by car or train, and bus from both Fremantle and Perth.

However, this ferry includes hotel transfers from several hotels in the Perth city centre, which is great if you don't have access to a car or you don't want to navigate your way around the public transport system.

If you have a bike: As you’re boarding, the crew will hoist your bikes onto the deck and scan your ticket, so if you're wanting to explore the island by bike, you'll be able to get your gear over quite easily.

Once on board, you’ll notice the majority of seating is inside, but there are two sections outside for you to enjoy the fresh air.

Arrive & explore

Once you arrive at the Thompson Bay Jetty, you will alight the ferry and be ready to explore the island after a quick visit to the Info Centre. If you're a first-time visitor to Rottnest Island, you'll want to visit the Information Centre before you begin exploring to ensure you don't miss out on any of the key attractions.

Enjoy a unique train ride to Oliver Hill Lookout. You are then guided to the Island’s huge 9.2-inch diameter guns and the tunnel system that forms part of Rottnest’s military heritage.
This tour must be booked before the day of travel. Please ensure to notify us of any dietary requirements when booking, as the tour includes a light lunch.
