Itinerary

9:30 AM – Check-in at Triabunna
Check in at the Maria Island Cruises Booking Centre, 21 Vicary Street, Triabunna.

10:00 AM – Maria Island Wilderness Cruise
Depart Triabunna aboard the custom-built Freycinet Explorer for an approximately 3.25-hour wilderness cruise exploring the spectacular coastline of Maria Island and Ile des Phoques.

Cruise to Ile des Phoques, accessible only by boat, and venture into Tasmania’s largest granite sea caves. Discover the spectacular Rainbow Cave, where a large natural skylight illuminates the water and granite walls.

Continue along Maria Island’s coastline to see Bishop and Clerk, Fossil Cliffs, limestone sea caves, Green Waterfall and the Painted Cliffs. Keep watch for Australian fur seals, dolphins, seabirds and, during migration season, humpback and southern right whales

Lunch Options:
Choose either Cruise & Walk with Lunch or Cruise & Walk – BYO Lunch when booking. Guests selecting the BYO option should bring their own lunch.

Approx. 1:15 PM – Maria Island Guided Walk & Exploration
Step ashore for approximately two hours on Maria Island. Join a guided walk through Darlington’s World Heritage-listed convict settlement, followed by free time to explore the island at your own pace.
Look out for the island’s resident wombats, wallabies, kangaroos, Cape Barren geese and echidnas.

Returning Ferry
Approx. 3:15 PM – Depart Maria Island
Approx. 3:45 PM – Return to Triabunna

Check-in at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM departure. The tour returns to Triabunna at approximately 3:45 PM.
Triabunna is approximately a 90-minute drive from Hobart via the Tasman A3 Highway. Free parking is available at the Booking Centre. Maria Island Cruises 2627

  • All prices are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD) and are per person.
  • Preparing for Your Cruise
  • Please dress warmly for the cruise—layering is key. We recommend wearing warm jackets, scarves, beanies, and gloves. While the yellow boat is enclosed for your comfort and protection from the elements, extra layers will ensure you stay cosy throughout the journey.
    Don't forget your camera—you’ll want to capture the breathtaking scenery and wildlife encounters!
  • Tours operate daily, excluding the 25th of December. Bookings are essential, as places are limited and subject to availability.
  • Children of all ages are welcome. Parents know best whether their children will enjoy the 3-hour cruise; however, most children love the experience, especially spotting wildlife and taking in the dramatic Bruny coastline.
  • The cruise is generally suitable for pregnant guests. Our custom-built vessels are designed for smooth cruising, though comfort can vary depending on sea conditions. We recommend checking the weather forecast a day or two before your cruise. If needed, we’re happy to reschedule or cancel your booking.
  • Wildlife Spotting : This is a nature-based sightseeing experience, Wombat and while seals and seabirds are frequently seen (with approximately a 50% chance), sightings of whales, dolphins, and albatrosses are dependent on seasonal patterns and weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

Cancellation Policy

Free Cancellation if cancel outside 2days. No refund if cancel within 2days.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
With this specific product's cancellation policy, the suppliers reserve the right of final interpretation.
If your order only pays the deposit of a product: a, if the product has available seats on the departure date and price and contents are the same as the order you placed, the booking would be confirmed by us without additional notification to you, and the deposit is not refundable. b, if the product has no available seats or price or contents are not the same, we might provide alternative options.
