Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora)
K’gari’s most iconic and picture-perfect swimming spot. Immerse yourself in crystal-clear freshwater and unwind on the powdery white sand beaches.

Central Station
Once a bustling logging station complete with schools and shops, this site now offers tranquil boardwalks along Wanggoolba Creek, surrounded by ancient King Ferns, towering Flooded Gums, and stately Pine trees.

Pile Valley
Stroll through subtropical rainforest and admire centuries-old Satinay trees and towering palms in this peaceful natural setting.

75 Mile Beach
Drive along this golden beach highway, where you might spot dingos, birds of prey, or migrating humpback whales (between July and October).

Eli Creek
Float gently downstream in this tree-lined freshwater creek, which releases four million litres of water into the Pacific Ocean every hour.

Maheno Shipwreck
Witness the hauntingly beautiful remains of the Maheno, washed ashore during a cyclone in 1935. It’s one of K’gari’s most photographed landmarks.

The Pinnacles Coloured Sands
Marvel at these radiant, multi-coloured sand cliffs and learn about the Indigenous Dreamtime stories that explain their formation. With up to 72 shades of red, orange, and yellow, they’re truly a natural wonder.

Indian Head
Pass by the island’s most easterly point, known for its rocky outcrop and as a vantage point to spot turtles, rays, and other marine life.

Champagne Pools
Take a dip in these natural rock pools, where ocean waves cascade over volcanic rock to create a bubbling, spa-like experience.

Lake Wabby (Optional Activity)
Trek across the Hammerstone Sandblow and be rewarded with panoramic views of the ocean, lake, and surrounding forest before cooling off in this vibrant green freshwater lake.
Note: This is a 4km return walk across bushland and soft sands. A moderate fitness level is required.
