Frankland Islands Reef Cruise: A Snorkeler's Paradise

Embark on a full-day adventure (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM) to the Frankland Islands, renowned for some of the best Cairns island snorkeling experiences. Explore Normanby Island and its surrounding fringing reefs within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, home to diverse marine life.

Your day includes a guided snorkel tour and an exciting adventure snorkel safari, both led by experienced instructors, including Master Reef Guides, who know the best spots to find turtles, fish, giant clams, and impressive corals. All guests are also welcome to snorkel at their leisure directly from the beach. If you're new to snorkeling, our crew provides comprehensive instruction and flotation devices for easy and enjoyable exploration. All snorkel equipment and sun protection suits are included in the tour price.

Guided Snorkel Tour:

Enjoy safe and fun snorkeling suitable for all ages, right off the beach. Simply step into the crystal-clear waters and be immediately surrounded by colorful tropical fish and a variety of other marine life. Sightings of green or hawksbill sea turtles are common on almost every trip. Keep an eye out for the rare jewel-blue anemone with its resident clownfish near the shore! Our experienced instructors, including Master Reef Guides, will lead the way, pointing out the best marine life.

Guided Introductory Diving

Take the plunge and experience scuba diving on Frankland Islands

If you want to try diving at the Great Barrier Reef, our friendly and experienced crew will be happy to help you start your underwater adventure! Frankland Islands Reef Cruises is a PADI 5-star Dive Centre with years of experience in diving instruction.

Unlike us, you don’t need any previous scuba diving experience – if you’re comfortable in the water, and with no medical conditions that preclude you from scuba diving, you can usually do an intro dive. You’ll be given briefings, tuition and all the skills practice you need at the surface to make sure your dive is a safe, amazing experience.

Take our short Can I Dive Survey to check you have no medical conditions that may prevent you from diving.

During your intro dive, under the expert supervision of our instructors, you’ll descend to 12m (40 feet) below the surface and enjoy the amazing marine life that makes Frankland Islands so unique.

What to Expect at the Frankland Islands:

  • Discover approximately 200 coral species around Normanby and Mabel Islands.
  • Observe endangered fauna such as green turtles, hawksbill turtles, spectacled flying-foxes, and beach stone-curlews.
  • During May and June, witness manta rays visiting the shallow fringing reefs.
  • Spot two rare jewel-blue anemones with clownfish near the beaches.
  • Explore four National Park islands (High, Normanby, Mabel, and Round) and one lighthouse reserve (Russell Island).
  • Learn about the islands' geological history, formed from metamorphic rock.

How You Can Help Protect the Islands and Reef:

  • Collect and dispose of any washed-up rubbish.
  • Stay on designated pathways.
  • Observe marine life in tidal pools from the shore.
  • Leave coral skeletons, shells, and animals undisturbed.
  • Join an island walk to learn about the ecosystem.
  • Use flotation devices to avoid standing on coral.
  • Avoid touching anything with your fins and stirring up sediment.
  • Keep a safe distance from coral and animals.
  • Secure your gear to prevent it from floating away or damaging the reef.
  • Follow your guide's instructions.

Things to Note

  • ALL RATES ARE IN AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS, INCLUDE GST
  • Age Limit : at least 12years old
  • For the  guests are booked for this cruise especially who wants to snorkelling. We require that at least one person of the group can understand the explanations in English and guidance of the Instructor and translate for the rest of the group and all guest will need to be able to swim for 100m.
  • Important Information:
    • Only Introductory Diving will be available, we are not currently offering Certified Diving on Frankland Islands.
    • Due to the activity timings of the day, if you are taking part in an Intro Dive you may miss one of the other island activities (i.e. the Guided Island Walk). Please speak to our team in the morning if there are any activities you want to take part in, so they can assign you the best Intro Dive time slot for the day.
    • Due to the limited number of Intro Dive slots per day (6 total per trip), no refunds will be provided for pre-booked Intro Dive experiences. Failing the medical clearance or change of mind will not be valid reasons for refunds of the Intro Dive cost.

Cancellation Policy

Free Cancellation if cancel outside 24hours. No refund if cancel within 24hours.
Noticed: If you would like to cancel, please kindly email us to cancel the tour at least 2 business days prior to this cancellation period. Once cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 7-28 business days.
Cancellation notification needs to be formally replied receipt by us during our office hours as acknowledgement.

NOTE: FIT TRAVEL would adopt suppliers' cancellation policy. Cancellation fees, if any by the suppliers, will be charged according to the supppliers' cancellation policy ( FIT TRAVEL does not charge additional cancellation fees ).
With this specific product's cancellation policy, the suppliers reserve the right of final interpretation.
If your order only pays the deposit of a product: a, if the product has available seats on the departure date and price and contents are the same as the order you placed, the booking would be confirmed by us without additional notification to you, and the deposit is not refundable. b, if the product has no available seats or price or contents are not the same, we might provide alternative options.
