Departing from Cairns, embark on a 1.5-hour journey aboard our air-conditioned catamaran to reach Sunlover Moore Reef Pontoon on the Outer Great Barrier Reef. This pontoon is strategically positioned and fully equipped to ensure that visitors of all ages and abilities can fully immerse themselves in the reef's beauty, featuring vibrant coral, captivating marine life, including turtles, and more. Spending 2 hours on the reef allows guests to participate in our complimentary activities, such as snorkelling, enjoying the unique Sunlover waterslide (the only waterslide on the Great Barrier Reef), exploring the underwater world through a glass-bottom boat, letting kids have fun in an enclosed ocean pool, visiting an underwater observatory, getting up close with marine creatures at a touch tank, and experiencing fish feeding. Additionally, you can explore the wonder of the Great Barrier Reef through our Seawalker Helmet Dive and Snorkel Safari Tour or witness it from a bird's-eye perspective during a helicopter scenic flight.

The journey continues with a visit to Fitzroy Island where lunch will be served, offering a delightful afternoon stay in this beautiful tropical paradise. Fitzroy Island is a favourite among Cairns locals, with 99% of its landscape covered in lush Tropical Rainforest, complemented by granite outcrops, open woodlands, mangroves, and coral-fringed beaches. Additionally, we provide snorkel equipment as part of this tour.

Day 2:

Fitzroy Island Full-Day Free Activities - Return to Cairns | Check out at 10 am, enjoy a full day of island exploration, and depart from Fitzroy Island at 4:00 pm, returning to Cairns by 4:45 pm.

It's a day to sleep in and wake up naturally. You can opt for the hotel's optional cost - buffet breakfast. Today, you have the freedom to explore the hidden gems of the hotel. You may choose to experience Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) or kayaking for an additional fee. Discover the secluded Nudey Beach, or opt for a healthy hike from the island's jetty. Embark on a hiking journey to the century-old lighthouse through the mountain trail (approximately 3.6 km round trip) or hike from the lighthouse to the island's peak (approximately 1.5 km round trip). All these options offer healthy and natural ways to enjoy your day!

Explore the 3.6 km rainforest hiking trail independently and enjoy panoramic views of the island around the lighthouse. Visit the Turtle Rehabilitation Center (a small donation is required for entry).

Optional activities available for a fee at the Dive Shop on the island include renting snorkelling gear, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, or participating in a glass-bottom boat tour.

Lunch is available at Foxy's Bar & Restaurant on the island for an additional cost.

Resort Accommodation

Guests are advised that check-in time is from 3 pm and check-out is 10 am. For guests arriving early or departing later, the resort offers bag storage, changing rooms, showers and pool towels. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the hotel reception common areas.

Accessible Access: the resort offers 2 Island Suites, 1 Welcome Bay Suite and 1 Butterfly Bungalow with accessible facilities. The Fitzroy Flyer has ramp access on and off the vessel and there are lifts to the accommodation floors. Please contact us via email and our team will be able to assist you further.

Affordable basic room with Queen or Twin Beds, perfect for couples or friends. Resort Studios are located at the back of the Resort, these rooms are rainforest facing offering limited views. Air-conditioned rooms are 32sqm and feature a ceiling fan, plasma TV, small desk, en-suite bathroom, small fridge and tea & coffee facilities. Enjoy lift access and use of shared guest laundry. There is a maximum of 2 guests.

Modern appointed spacious one-bedroom suite with separate dining and balcony. Located on the ground floor and level 2, these 71sqm one-bedroom suites offer separate dining and a generous balcony. Each Island Suite includes a separate bedroom with Queen bedding and a kitchenette with microwave, toaster, and full-size fridge as well as tea and coffee facilities. Each suite is air-conditioned with ceiling fans in rooms, plasma TV, lounge and dining area and ensuite bathroom. Enjoy lift access and use of shared guest laundry. Your well-equipped kitchen includes crockery, cooking utensils, a large fridge freezer, hotplates and oven, microwave, toaster and tea and coffee facilities. Consists of an Island Suite and a Resort Studio Room adjoining with a shared entrance, kitchenette and balcony. Our Two Bedroom Suites consist of an adjoining Island Suite and Resort Studio Room with a shared common entrance, these rooms are perfect for families or larger groups. The first suite features a kitchenette, dining area, balcony, separate bedroom with Queen bed and ensuite bathroom. The adjoining Studio offers Queen or Twin beds and an ensuite bathroom. Amenities include air-conditioning, ceiling fans, plasma TVs, en-suite bathrooms, basic kitchen facilities including a microwave, toaster, full-size fridge and tea and coffee facilities. Boasting beautiful views across Welcome Bay, the Beach Cabin offers a queen bedroom and a separate twin bedroom. Be quick they book out fast! Two bedrooms, generous balcony and beautiful views across Welcome Bay, plasma TV, tea and coffee facilities. The Cabins are located right on the beach; walk directly from the front balcony to the Beach. Air-conditioned with ceiling fans, Queen-size bed and separate bedroom with twin beds. The Cabins are ideal for a romantic getaway or a family with small children. Use of shared guest laundry. Sleeps up to 4 guests (Queen and 2 single beds).

Resort Facilities

Fitzroy Resort has 99 rooms and is the only resort on the island. The resort was completed to the highest standards and opened in 2010. The facilities are exclusive to resort guests and include Zephyr Restaurant, a resort pool, a swim-up pool bar, a tour desk, air hockey and a kids playroom. Wi-Fi is available complimentary in the hotel reception common areas.

Fitzroy Island has licensed premises and bringing your own alcohol onto the island is not permitted. All alcohol brought onto the island by guests will be held at the resort reception until the day of departure. Guests are advised that accommodation check-in time is from 3 pm and check-out from 10 am. Baggage Storage is available for resort guests plus changing rooms, showers, lockers and pool towels.

ZEPHYR RESTAURANT
Zephyr Restaurant is open daily for breakfast and serves the essential morning cappuccino. At night the outdoor terraces come alive with diners enjoying the alfresco settings for a la carte dining. The menu is modern Australian, using locally sourced ingredients with nightly specials available.

If you have special dietary requirements, please advise us on booking. The restaurant is fully licensed and has a wide selection of wines and beverages available. Celebrating a special event? Let us know and we can tailor make your dining experience.

We recommend you make your preferred dinner booking time on arrival, as the restaurant can get busy.

FOXY’S BAR & CAFE
A large Pacific Islands bar with a 70’s structural theming, situated right on the beachfront, about 100 metres from the resort buildings, south of the main creek (on the way to Nudey Beach).

Foxy’s Bar has an excellent casual cafe-style food menu and provides a wide range of food and drink options including kids meals and coffee. Takeaway meals plus beer and wine are available for purchase from Foxy’s Bar.

ZEPHYR RESTAURANT

Zephyr Restaurant serves fine Australian cuisine, using the finest fresh seasonal ingredients, expertly prepared by the world's top chefs. Zephyr Restaurant is built near the sea, and its outdoor space overlooks the calm waters of the Coral Sea, creating a romantic atmosphere and pleasant scenery. Zephyrs serves breakfast and dinner (own expense).

ISLAND GROCERY STORE

The Island Grocery Store sells a wide range of food, drinks and everyday items including pies, sandwiches, ice cream, barbecue bags, soft drinks and sunscreen.
